I should also add that I really like a Gil for Shard swap from Washington's standpoint as that team desperately needs a 3. Nick Young continues to prove himself as a legit offensive threat and I think he'd easily be able to step in for Arenas. Meanwhile the Wizards can move Hinrich to the bench behind Wall and Young and actually start a legit SF at the 3 spot in Lewis while Howard collects his paycheck from the bench. Yeah they take on Shard's money but amazingly enough they only have to pay him for three years (two and a half if they buy him out) as opposed to four for Gilbert. This is a no-brainer if you're Washington.

I'm surprised you think so highly of Shard. Most Magic fans feel he's done. But I have always commented on my frustration with how Stan has made him into a spot up jump shooter

Nah... at least Nelson can deliver deep in the playoffs every once in a while. Carter has an annoying consistent tendency to disappear... Arenas is untested in that area, we'll see what he does. I wish Gortat weren't involved, though.
I just dont think it will be ideal for Orlando to have a backcourt of Nelson and Arenas.... And I think Nelson is somewhat wasted if you decide to bring him off the bench... Arenas as full time PG would be better, but thats just my opinion

According to that post (citing Hoopsworld, admittedly), it's Lewis for Arenas, and the Magic are also looking to package Vince's pseudo-expiring with Gortat for another upgrade elsewhere.
Going to be an interesting weekend one way or another, even if it just turns out to be rumours.

Wow do you people know how bad Arenas contract is? Lewis's contract is ok compared to Arenas's. If they do this Howard will leave, not might will leave.

EPIC
I'd pay money to be a fly on that wall.
To those of you asking why would WAS trade Gil for Rashard, Rashard's contract is a year shorter. Also, he's probably fit in a little better with Wall.
He actually does pretty decent at SF, but don't expect him to defend well. But he's still clutch as hell, so that's a bonus, I guess.
Truthfully, if the rumors are true, I'm gonna miss the guy. He's one of my favorite players (even though he's been slumping/declining).

Okay if it is Vince for Arenas - the Wizards are highway robbers. Lewis for Arenas is much more fair value considering the financial impact of both their contracts. You don't just trade an expiring for a bad contract.
Jameer Nelson is so underrated.
Arenas would be a good fit with Howard though.

Twitter has been notoriously bad this year even with reliable sources. Trades have been reported that major networks have picked up and then the actual trade hasn't gone through and such.
I'll wait to see what the actual trade is. ORL has an abundance of talent on their team, great level for trading for any situation so we'll see. I could conceivable see either a Vince or Shard with Gortat for Areneas. Gortat can be a starting Center in this league and that's valuable.
Ryan Anderson and Brandon Bass, you don't need both of them. but if Gortat is gone you can at least find minutes for both.

There are conflicting reports regarding the imminence of a potential trade sending Gilbert Arenas to the the Magic, but at least one has said the deal is done and that he will debut on Monday against the Hawks. Rotoworld.com/Alex Kennedy (Twitter)
It looks like a trade is actually happening. Reports are saying Rashard Lewis is involved, so I doubt he plays tonight against Philly.

How is this bad for the Wizards? they need to get rid of Arenas and Rashard's deal is one year shorter. This is one of those deals that's good for everybody. Arenas gets a chance at redemption and the Wizards get to finally move on.

because unlike the rest of the league wizard fans realize that arenas is so much better then lewis that they would rather take on the extra year.

Arenas is definitely better, but the Wizards need to get rid of him. Taking Rashard is just about fare value considering the situation.

Put me in the camp of liking this deal, as Arenas makes this team even more dangerous.

How is Jameer Nelson underrated? He's just a solid PG. There are 15-20 PG's better than him. He's in the same league as present day Andre Miller. That's not saying much.

I rather an overpaid All Star level talent over an overpaid bum. Lewis is as valuable as Eddy Curry was two years ago. Market value, lol. They better get a 1st and Gortat just for taking Lewis at the least. I would never take Lewis especially for Arenas. It's not like Lewis is an expiring, he has two more seasons left and Arenas could go to multiple All Star games. This deal would be epic fail for the Wizards.
