i've seen him play back in golden state, he's a great cutter without the ball (baseline and from the wing)... he doesn't have the best handles, but he can create for himself, but since he's nearing 30, he's slowing a tad, and relying a lot on his shooting (but his shooting is really good), but he has the ability to still get to the basket... and he's a threat in transition on the open floor

it'd be a bonus to get him, i see him as an upgrade over Carter... and arenas would play well with him (off of him too), no doubt, and both can get to the basket and score in bunches (perimeter or attacking), which carter lacked in consistency and frequency, and what lewis lacked all-together

hedo, ehh.. welcome back? i suppose? lol... nothing wrong with having a point-forward option back on the team i guess, it'll take the stress off arenas (and nelson too, if nelson starts at pg, or comes off the bench at pg) and handling the offense and pnr offense in general

orlando is looking to stack the deck and bully the east with pure talent, speed, shooting, athleticism, and bench depth in the backcourt and swingman positions... scary though... bass and howard are going to have to be the anchor downlow for us in the frontcourt

Jeez, what is with Otis' infatuation with Hedo? He has gotten all the chances to be a playmaker in TO and Phoenix. The guy is just disinterested out there. He played out of his mind in a contract year--BIG SURPRISE!

And can someone tell me why Phoenix would swap Vince for JRich? Don't they still want to make the playoffs? And why would they take Gortat? Lopez is a much better C, and Frye is often their shooting big.

O-Sentinel is really the only ones not to have much on it. The Washington Post has a story up, ESPN has it posted in their rumors section.

If Arenas come regain some of his scoring ability Iggy would be a very good player next to him. The Magic would also still have Nelson to keep or use as a trade chip.

Don't really know Orlando's bench & there would surely be other players involved but a starting line-up of Nelson, Arenas, Iguodala, Brand & Howard looks pretty competitive to me. If Gortat goes out, Battie surely will come back. Philly might even include a young player.

Trading for Iggy and Brand would be good, but it wont happen. There is no way Magic will pay this kind of money for this kind of years left.

Name: 10-11 Sallary, Years left
D12: 16.5, 3 years
Brand: 16, 3 years
Iggy: 12, 4 years
Arenas: 17.5, 4 years
Nelson: 7, 3 years

And then u can add JJ (7), Pietrus (5), Bass (4)...

i feel like this thread is another CP3 thread. much-a-do about nothing.

how many deals that Otis has been working on have ever gone public like this?

if anything happens, i'd expect the unexpected.

This thread actually has legs because Otis loves Gil and rumors about trading for him have been around ever since Gil was suspended.

As for CP3, that was just wishful thinking by everyone (media included) and everyone just speculated that NO management would fold. Plus CP3 never officially came out and said he wanted out. And he has 2 years left, so he absolutely has no leverage to demand a thing since he's not just going to walk away or stay at home and not get paid.

Dwight Howard Pushing The Magic To Make Moves?

With the Magic in the midst of several different trade rumors, most of which are centered around Gilbert Arenas, many are wondering why the Arenas rumors have popped back up.

Of course, Orlando’s recent struggles combined with the rise of the Miami Heat and the consistency of the Boston Celtics seems like reason enough to strike deal but there is apparently more to it.

A source close to the situation indicates Dwight Howard has been pushing the Magic to make moves.

I'm not a big Arenas fan, as I feel he's not the final piece this team needs to win a ring, but it does make a lot of sense roster wise....
He's better than Carter, and would be our starting SG, and he'd also solve our backup PG problems playing some minutes at PG when Nelson rests.
Having Arenas play 30 minutess split between the SG and PG spots would be a big improvement for our offense.

Now, a second deal would have to be made for this to make sense... something along the lines of Carter+Gortat+Pietrus for a certain elite SF player. :P

We'd also need to pick some old backup C anywhere.

If those 3 moves happen, then I'd be pretty happy.

I was hoping to wake up to the trade going down because I feel the longer this keeps going, the less likely a deal will happen. Usually with these type of things, once when word leaks out, the trade goes goes down soon after.

I hope I'm wrong tho !

Well, it's perfect trade weather in the City Beautiful. Cold, dark, rainy morning.

Well, I can't remember any big website or writer mentioning Chris Paul to Orlando back then, but now, the Carter/Arenas rumors are floating around on all big websited and writers are all writing bout it .. Last time it was just a member here claiming to have sources .. Everyone said he was reliable but I don't think I've seen him here ever since that night ..

If Arenas is coming, Nelson either has to go to backup PG or has to be traded. Arenas is best at PG, not at SG.
