I've liked JRich for awhile my only concern is now the rotations what day gonna be, Mondays game should be interesting so should Tuesdays first home game.

Welcome JRich, Gilbert, Clark and welcome back HEDOOOOOO Turkkkkkalu.

Arenas, Richardson, and Turkoglu will be very effective. Our backcourt gets about 3-4 years younger and it becomes more dynamic. Sure we may have taken a hit at our frontline, but look at how good our backcourt is! Earl Clark is only 22, and is no throw in either.

CBS Now reports:

In a blockbuster trade that changes the complexion of the Eastern Conference, the Magic are getting Hedo Turkoglu and Jason Richardson from the Suns and Gilbert Arenas from the Wizards, league sources confirmed to CBSSports.com.

The Suns send Turkoglu back to Orlando, where he thrived, along with Richardson and Earl Clark for Vince Carter, Marcin Gortat and Mickael Pietrus. Orlando also sends a 2011 first-round pick and cash to Phoenix and acquires Arenas from Washington for Rashard Lewis, the sources said.

It is a swing-for-the-fences for Orlando, which came under immense pressure to make a big trade while losing five of its last six games and taking an obvious back seat to Boston and Miami in the East. Turkoglu, who struggled in stints with Toronto and Phoenix, returns to Orlando -- where he was a key piece in Orlando's run to the 2009 NBA Finals.

Arenas is the bigger name, but the key to the deal could be Richardson, a perimeter sniper who fits the Magic's style and gives them a clutch scorer and big-time shooter to further space the floor for Dwight Howard.

The Rockets tried to get into the mix for Gortat, whom they've coveted for several years, by offering Kevin Martin to the Magic, but "couldn't get it done," according to one of the sources.

So looking at the big picture, what do these trades do financially for the Magic in 2012 ?

As a Louisville fan, what happened to the guy in the NBA? Was it him or the team?

I think it's more on Earl. He's sooo laid back, and hasn't really given the indication that he "wants" it. I think he just needs someone he respects to really drive him, the way Pitino (and T-Will, to some extent) did at UofL.

I know people were talking him up as Lamar Odom-lite when he was drafted, but I saw him as more of a Tim Thomas type for a ceiling. He doesn't have the handle that Odom does -- which turns him into a jump shooter at this level -- though he's a good passer. He was a pretty good defender in college, but that was as a PF. In the pros, he plays mostly SF on the perimeter, though he's tall enough to be a stretch 4. I think being a stretch 4 is his most likely path to NBA success, but so far he hasn't shown the desire to be an impact guy. At this point, I think the Magic just got him to have the expiring deal to make the dollars match up.

Earl Clark is probably in the deal to make up for Gortat but I do not like it along with kicking in a first.

I do not like the Phoenix deal.

There is a reason why J-Rich has bounced around so much and Hedo Turkoglu has an oversized contract and is wearing down.

Maybe this helps jumps start things in the short run but I do not think this is a good deal for the long-term future of this team.

We have no long term future.

The Orlando Magic have completed trades with the Washington Wizards and Phoenix Suns that will radically change the face of the team.

In two separate trades, the Magic acquired Gilbert Arenas from the Wizards in exchange for Rashard Lewis, and they re-acquired Hedo Turkoglu, who was a member of the 2009 NBA Finals team, by sending Vince Carter, Marcin Gortat and Mikael Pietrus to the Suns. Orlando also gets Jason Richardson from Phoenix in the deal.

This is a risky move for the Magic, no question, as they give up their only back-up center in the deal, and they also take on a huge contract in Gilbert Arenas, whose injury history is well-documented. Dealing Carter was all but guaranteed, given his inability to fit in with Orlando's gameplan (or get along with Dwight Howard), and Jason Richardson is absolutely an upgrade, but this trade is not without its long-term risks for the Magic.

First of all, the Magic, who are in championship-or-bust-cost-be-damned mode, take on Gilbert Arenas at $17.7 million this season, $19.3 next season, $20.8 the following year (ETO) and $22.3 in 2013-14. They also take on Turkoglu at $9.8 million this season, $10.6 million next, and $11.4 in the final year.

Good find, but I don't trust hoopsworld. Although they may very well be right about this.

I can understand people not wanting Hedo's contract. I don't understand people not wanting Hedo. The last time he was here he was playing great. He was the top ball handler on a team that went to the finals. He left us for more money. He went from a team that used him as a focal point in PNR to a team that really only used his spot up shooting. Pietrus is horrible. All he can do is make 3s. Every other aspect of his game is bad.

If this deal goes down my first thought is Jameer may be on his way out at some point. Can Arenas play some SG? I think its fine on offense. On defense we might have some issues. Jrich is a SG as well. I don't like him at SF. With Hedo, and Qrich you would be really stacked at SF. You also have Jwill and Duhon at the points to go with Arenas and Nelson. If I'm Jameer I have to be thinking I'm next.

Deal is done according to Yahoo sports:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=A ... alks121810

New roster:

Nelson, Duhon, Williams
Arenas, Redick, Q-Rich
J-Rich, Hedo
Bass, Anderson, Clark
Howard, Allen, Orton

I think it is a good deal because we got a lot better in the backcourt and Hedo > any bench player we had before. Tonight the Magic could be extremely short handed since I'm sure Carter, Gortat and Pietrus will not be playing.

Orlando wanted to send Gortat to the Houston Rockets for Kevin Martin, but the Rockets weren't willing to make that deal.

I agree. Hedo flourished in this system and he will do it again. Richardson is SUPERIOR to Carter at this stage in terms of an athletic wing that van finish and shoot his arse off. I think we gave up a bit much if we lose Gortat but I am sure that Otis was seeing his value go down also. Can't accuse him of staying pat. He had to do something.

Yeah Hedo didnt do well with the raptors or the suns but they also didnt use him like the magic will..he is a perfect fit along side howard...and richardson is going to be huge...Clark will be ok for a back up center ....you will be surprised....overall its a excellent move...he had to do something..

What about the 2012 factor, Howard? We'll have a lot of cash to chase some pretty big guns with Dwight's free agency impending.

Crazy,

They do have to win now but I'm just not so sure about this Phoenix trade especially giving up Gortat even though he has not played big minutes this season.

I stand by what I said above.
