That's about as irate as Steve Nash will get publicly. He wants out badly. Might as well get it done now the rebuilding has probably started.

Just over on the Magic board and a lot of people there are very unhappy by this deal. Did our FO come out on top in a trade for once? Part I like best on this trade is the 1st round pick. Nice to have a couple of those to bundle and move up in the draft when we can.

I haven't read all the replies but those complaining about adding more wings are out of your minds. Sure the Suns don't need wings but the guys they brought in have way more value to most teams than the guys going out. I'm fairly certain this won't be the last of the trades.
I'm not as high as Gortat as many, but at least this should mean no more Barron and his 30% fg.

This. Surely another deal is brewing. Hopefully to package a wing or two for a pf.

At first everyone was like "OMGWTFBBQ" but then, everyone was like "chea". It's for good reason though.
Gortat's great, Pietrus is good, Carter is gonna flourish with a good passer/medical staff and we get a 1st/3 mill trade exception.
LOL @ BASS BACKING UP HOWARD AT THE C.

Losing Richardson will sting.
The financial flexibility will be awesome.
Sure, the whole "two wings for two wings" thing seems like a lateral move, but it greatly benefits us financially. Even this trade would be a win.
Now you tack on Gortat, a 1st, and Cash?
Guys, we reduce our total salary commitments, got a rebounding C, a pick and cash.
In addition, we have one if the largest "expiring" contracts in the league which will lend itself to future trades.

On Steve Nash:

We'll see what other moves are made.
I still really dislike this trade.

I'm going to quote this again.

For a team that revolves around Steve Nash who values stability and consistency in his relationships on and off the court, it is hard to have a positive reaction to the move.
The portion that makes sense for the Suns is swapping Hedo Turkoglu for Marcin Gortat but it says a lot about the thought process and decision-making that they would be desperate enough to move Hedo that they are willing to take on Vince Carter in place of Jason Richardson. It's both an admission of mistake on the initial Hedo decision but also a potentially devastating blow to the rest of this season.
Jason Richardson is a perfect fit at the two guard next to Steve Nash -- at least on the offensive end of the floor -- but it took a full season to get there. Replacing him with Vince Carter now will be a huge set-back to the flow of the offense and provide no upgrade defensively.
....
Nash and Carter once again gives the Suns a player (Carter) who's (liike Hedo) is most effective with the ball in his hands and we've already seen that Nash isn't willing to relinquish that control. If Carter didn't fit with Jameer Nelson, he's not going to fit with Steve Nash.
The real question now, assuming this deal happens as reported, is what if anything this means for Nash and possibility of moving him. With the team hovering around .500 and seeing yet another teammate get moved, you can easily envision a frustrated Steve asking to be dealt. Certainly a late first round pick and some cash isn't going to placate Nash.
There are some who've called for the Phoenix Suns to admit their window has closed and to being the rebuilding process immediately. This could very well be the first step. What to watch for next is the reaction from Nash and any signs that the Suns might want to flip Carter's expiring contract for some other better fitting pieces.
Why does our FO suck so much? Jesus.

Re: *MERGED* Done Deal. Goodbye Jrich/Hedo/Clark
I understand all the belly aching about the loss of Rich, but you guys have to agree this is a bang up job of a trade by the front office. Rich probably wouldnt have signed with us next year, and at our current pace, having him the rest of this season was pointless because we werent going to be a playoff team. Gortat and Pietrus in my mind come in here and start RIGHT NOW!!!! The first rd. pick is a great incentive to the deal. If we can somehow turn the Vince expiring into a Z. Randolph expiring.... look the F#$K out western confrence. Both Vince and Rich are streakey, so to me they are a push when Vince gets the shots Rich did in our system, IF HE STAYS!! I hope he wont. SOMETHING HAD TO CHANGE!!!! Vince+Pietrus+the pick for Z. Randolph and Oj Mayo!!!! or leave out the pick if possible

Someone needs to take that Tom Cruise image, and just have his jaws keep opening until he looks like a Left 4 Dead 2 spitter.

I like this trade a lot.
Yeah, J-Rich was great with us, but Vince/Pietrus/Gortat are all very good fits in our system, plus we get rid of Hedo's contract.
Gortat is good enuf to start over Lopez and could wind up being a nice surprise, his rebounding will be a HUGE addition. Pietrus is like an athletic Raja Bell and once he gets healthy should be very dangerous next to Nash. Vince played great next to a dominant playmaker in Kidd in the past and should fit into our system just fine. Plus we get a draft pick.
Best move of the season so far IMO
