We should've tried to pry Hilton Armstrong away from Washington in that Lewis/Arenas swap.

seems very odd that gortat is in the deal.

at the very least you should get frye or something.

feels like you overpaid with the phx deal, even though j-rich and hedo are upgrades.
overall - not sure.

j-rich and hedo over carter and lewis. ok. upgraded - but thinner at pf.
then arenas over pietrus, gortat, 1st ? the arenas we've seen this year ? with that contract ? and that knee ?

i don't know.

duhon has to be traded for a back up center for this to make any sense to me.
- perhaps utah in some type of elson/fescenko+watson package now that okur is coming back-
otherwise imo, the risk far outweighs the benefits in these two trades - when looked at as a whole.

I like this trade... so did we lose Gortat or not?

How are we screwed? We get 2 go-to scorers, a point-forward back in Hedo, and our backcourt is ridiculously awesome

Sure we could have gotten a bit more with Gortat, but honestly, something had to be done... Hedo's contract isn't the best thing ever, but the chemistry should be enough to get him to play his role again on this team... maybe not as well as he did 2 years ago, but having a point-forward on this team is huge

And Gil and Richardson gives us that perimeter go-to ability we so lacked the past 2 years

I'm sorry, but people were coming up with reasons why Carter was such a good addition. And look how that worked out.

Arenas is an inefficient player. He shoots a lot at a really low %, he turns it over like a madman and he plays no defense. Lets not get into the change of location theory. It might work for a few weeks but he'll become the player he always has been eventually.

Richardson won't come close to 19ppg. But overall he is a decent addition because he doesn't truly need the ball to be effective.

Hedo is just bad right now. Really lazy.

Arenas is inefficient. Remember though he shoots a lot of 3s and goes to the line a lot. If he goes back to last years form then the Magic could have 2 of the top free throw guys in the league. Especially since were always in the bonus because everyone is always fouling Dwight.

The question is what Arenas are we going to get. Last year before the gun incident he was looking like he was becoming the old Arenas. He was averaging 25 and 8 over his last month before bringing the gun to the locker room. He comes back and they have John Wall and really his role is more of a spot up shooter when he is playing. If we get the Arenas that was starting to play like an all-star before the incident this can be a great trade.

No, I'd rather Jameer continue to take shots.

And honestly, something had to be done... could there have been a better deal involved? Yes... but this is what we're stuck with and we have to make the best of it... and honestly, we weren't going anywhere with Carter and Lewis anyways, so it's time reload and to go for broke with Arenas, Turk, and J-Rich

I'll root for them of course. But the team panicked, as well as the fans. Struggling, yet still have a 16-9 record. Knicks are having an "amazing" season and are 16-11. Just imagine how many games we would have won if we righted the ship. Now we have to acclimate four new players (I expect Clark will have to play given our backup C problem) who aren't strong defensively. Not smart, not smart at all.

i get what you are saying but what do you do when you have Dwight Howard staring you in the face wanting changes.....He isn't some player he is one of THE players in the League....You're kinda at his mercy...he says jump you say how high

Anything to get nelson off the floor.

Bring him off the bench, reduce him to a 18-20 min guy per game.

So stoked to have agent zero. I hope we get all of his ridiculous antics.

This had me rolling...

It was revealed in the book "How Athletes Roll: 40 Celebrity Athletes & Their Cars" that Arenas has an unusual affinity for first-generation Chrysler Sebrings, including using a 1997 Sebring convertible as his typical daily transportation. The interest stems from an incident in 1995 when a young Arenas happened by a local Chrysler dealership. "It was when the Sebring was first introduced, first generation" Arenas explains, "there was something about those cars, the style, the elegance... I vowed that day that if I ever made it big I would own one. And that dream came true."

It looks like a good trade for Orl to me because I thought the magic were not going anywhere with their team. It looks like a good gamble. Earl Clark is a nice prospect as well but I think they needed to keep Gortat.

Ric Bucher just said on ESPN that some players "They became tired of Stan"

Said some of those players are playing elsewhere right now (obviously talking about those players traded). He said they just became tired of hearing his voice...wow
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

Trust me, I've been down that road in the past.

I've always said that Arenas was a glorified chucker. But hey, hopefully playing with Dwight on a contending team will improve his shot selection, which would dramatically increase his field goal percentage.

It all comes down to one thing...Are we getting the Arenas from 3 years ago or are we getting an injury prone Arenas, because the guy is younger than Lewis and those are the two worst contracts. Reshards contract was even more terrible because he was declining fast. If Arenas turns it around and gives us 3 or 4 good years then he makes his contract look much better.

As far as the phoenix deal goes. If we can keep JRich and Hedo returns to form we are deeper coming off the bench talent wise but Hedos contract is pretty bad.

Gortat is useless in PHX with Robin Lopez there.
