Hi guys, VC fan here.

Post#1 » by RvM » Sat Dec 18, 2010 8:42 pm

Hey, I know everybody is still in a little haze after everything that's been going on today, but I just wanted to introduce myself.

I'm RvM and I have been a "player fan" of Vince since his early days in UNC when I lived in North Carolina.

Yes, there are many Vince Carter fans still to this day, and you'll be seeing a bunch of us pop off from time to time on this board.

I don't come here wishing any trouble, and I just wanted to give you guy's some REAL input on Vince and not let anybody say anything that might not be true about Vince without any proof.

I've watched every single game of Vince Carter's career and let me just say he still has enough left in the tank.

I've seen some ridiculous things already on this board that VC's injury prone, or that Hedo is better than Vince and I cannot agree with those statements.

Vince has actually played okay for the Magic this season, averaging 15/4/3 on 47% shooting. His best in his career right now. And he's only doing it on 12 possesions a game.

Vince doesn't score 30+ a night anymore and won't be making the Suns championship contenders, but getting rid of Hedo is worth it right?

I know J-Rich revived his career here in Phoenix and I think with Nash, VC can start running a bit more again and have a bit more a bigger role in offense.

VC became the 3rd option this season with the Magic and I just thought the rotations with Orlando didn't fit well with Vince. I'm not saying anything else because I know that Vince underachieved with the Magic, but I don't want their to be any mishaps here with Phoenix.

I know teams will be looking into VC's expiring at the end of the season, but I hope that Vince can help this team. Gortat should be great here, and Pietrus is definitely a chucker but he can be a great shooter and is an above average defender.

I don't think VC will be bought out, and this might only be a temporary stay, but I promise to be definitely objective and criticize Vince as I would anybody else on the team.

I have always been a big fan of Nash, and if anyone saw VC and Kidd, VC was a much better player.

Sorry to intrude your boards guys, I'll do my best to help contribute to this forum, and I know there's a famous poster here that makes great graphics, but If it's possible I'd love to make some gamethreads and sigs on here.

It might be a temporary stay, and I know some or most don't like player fans, but I'll be here to support the Suns and for Vince.

This doesn't look too bad does it? haha.

Cool man. Welcome to the board. Not sure if VC will be here long, but it'll be interesting to see how well he meshes with Nash.

I probably think VC will be bought out next year on the final year of his contract.

He worked really well with J-Kidd back during his actual prime, but I think VC still has enough left in the tank to this run and gun offense.

Anyone want to know anything about him?

Vince is now more of a jumpshooter than ever as his age has caught up to him, but he's developed into a great spot up jump shooter, and actually this season he's been at his most effective averaging career highs in FG% and 3pt%(actually it may have decreased a bit.)

You'll still see him hit a 20 footer off a screen at the top of the freethrow line, but he has been picking his spots well this season.

He's also not able to drive to the rim as he used to, but he still has a great spin and I say with confidence that he's a better post player than Jason Richardson.

Yeah he still can. I've watched a few suns games, and he can't jump to the extent of J-Rich anymore but he's had some highlight jams this season.

He always messes around doing 360s in warmups, so athletism isn't the problem. It's just consistency. There's no guarantees that he'll be driving each time he has the ball because he can't anymore, but VC can still drive.

He usually doesn't get many and one's nowadays, but ask any Magic fan and they'll say VC isn't getting any superstar calls anymore which leads to the minimal freethrow attempts.

edit: Also, thanks Jason. I guess you saw my post on the magic board huh? haha.

Another question about VC - what exactly is the status of his contract. I know at least part of next season is unguaranteed, is the whole thing?

One of my fave bball mixes ever :

I don't think Vince will be much of a downgrade from J-Rich, he's got some serious potential in the open court as well.

Guys, RvM will be a ASSET to your board. He knows a ton about VC and makes some of the best Game Threads I've ever seen. We'll miss him in Orlando. Cig.

Haha thanks, I didn't see it at first when I went here.

And yeah he's guaranteed $4 mil until June 30th, then I believe his contract can expire in his last year. So it might be possible that he's bought out in the off season if things don't work out.

Yeah, it's a bit silly but I don't want Vince to give up #15. Vince and Brook Lopez had alot of sucess in their only year together with the pnr, so myabe the same happens with his brother. ;)

Does anyone have 9 on this team? That was Vince's USA number, either that or 6 for Vince.
