I said this a week ago - we dont need a "big name backup" at the C - we need nothing more than a Battie type player, some one that will come in and put in a session of hard graft for 8 to 12 minutes a game, we don't need anything more than that.

SVG has said that Jameer will start, and also mentioned that Arenas has been at the SG all year, and that Jameer would like the ball out of his hands at times. So read into it what you want.

He also said that one of Arenas/Hedo/J-Rich/Bass will be coming off the bench - I am going to assume the only positions really "up for grabs" are SG/SF between Hedo/J-Rich and Arenas - Bass/Howard and Jameer are going to get the nod at their positions.

I am looking forward to this I have to say.

I don't know. I don't think so, we'll have to wait and see.

Because Arenas was a separate trade than Richardson II, I fully agree that both will start. Also, Nelson must start. So, your lineup seems correct.

So, Orlando's second unit is now:
Duhon
Redick
Richardson I
Anderson
Allen

That is fairly thin in the front-court, but OK in the back-court.

Let's all pray that Howard i) stays healthy, and ii) reduces his tech rate. Orlando cannot afford Howard to miss any more games.

You forgot Hedo

probably more like what I said earlier

Jameer/J Will
Arenas/JJ or Q Rich
J Rich/Turk
Bass/Anderson
Dwight/Allen/Orton

Also this probably means less minutes for one of JJ/Q Rich

Still would like to see if we could go get Battie or Gooden or J Foster , something like that

Did we keep gortat or not? If we gave him up and a 1st rounder, that was a stupid move.
My 2 cents is worth 5 cents.

Now that Shard can truly speak his mind, I am interested to see what he has to say about his time in Orlando and playing the 4 the whole time rather than the 3.

Could be nothing at all but there could be something there.

I'm pretty excited about this trade, there is the potential downside but that's with every move you make. Arenas and Richardson played amazing together before and I'm sure they're well aware already who's team it is. Richardson is an all around improvement over /vc/ and Arenas to me is an improvement over Shard. I would feel a bit more comfortable with a proper back up C however.

Bass 30 Anderson 18
Howard 36 Allen 12

I still think Stan should utilize both Arenas & J-Rich more with the second unit. Having Jameer/Redick/Hedo/Bass/Dwight on the floor together would offer more balance.

This is a little unfair to JJ. He was playing well and everyone thought he was gonna get the start at SG, then they bring in Carter. Then he outplays Carter and again deserved the start, so they trade Carter and bring in 2 other 2-guards who basically demand minutes and push him further into the bench despite his increasing level of play. Smh.

Great round of wheeling and dealing for the Magic as far as I am concerned. Good to see Arenas getting his a fresh start with a classy organization like Orlando.

I like the moves. We had to make chances since it was clear we weren't going to win the title with the current group.J Rich is exactly what we need. Hedo has obviously declined since he last played for us, but he fits the team well, Howard likes him and his passing and ballhandling will be useful.

J Rich will only be on Orlando this season then he'll be gone

I would totally be behind this trade if it would have included Frye or Lopez.....

If by 'demand minutes' you mean 'are better than JJ' I see your point. JJ is probably a 13/2/2 guy with starter's minutes. You can't seriously expect him to get minutes in front of J-Rich or Arenas.

We're talking about fully-grown, highly paid pro athletes here. JJ wasn't a competition winner. He just ain't that good.

Magic should try to acquire Richard Jefferson so we can officially have the most confusing swingman lineup in the game:

Richard Jefferson
Jason Richardson
Q Richardson
