Otis I spent almost an hour a half talking with the family(Devos) about Arenas.
Smart / Micic / D. Wright
Wiggins / Exum / J. Adams
Parker / K. Anderson / Mcdermott
Randle / Vonleh / Stokes
Embiid / Nurkic/ Tavares

Who thinks Rashard is playing better than Hedo right now? Also, yes Hedo is a chucker, but damn at least we have someone who is going to get into the lane and try to score. Rashard's offense was harder to find than Waldo. I mean damn come on.

The only way this trade works is if Hedo finds his former glory in Orlando, Arenas plays smart and at an elite level and Richardson just continues doing what he is doing. Oh, and all of them have to make a commitment to defense.

So yea, this isn't going to work.

These are great trades if:

Hedo can play like he did with the Magic before,

and Gilbert stays healthy and doesn't do anything stupid.

I really think Nelson is coming off the bench.

Arenas
Richardson
Turkoglu
Bass
Howard

If Dwight would give the ok, I'd love to see that Thompson+Fillers for Nelson deal. :D

Looks like Nelson is starting, and Gil will play backup PG minutes when Nelson goes to the bench

Gil will start at SG with Nelson in the back-court

Otis said Hedo was really happy to hear about the deal and he expects him to play with a little more energy b/c his style of play allows him to flourish here...
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

Long time Suns fan here. For those worried about Hedo being past his prime, I've got one word for you.
Don't. He's in great shape and is moving well. Don't let his contribution at Phoenix bother you. He clearly wasn't properly utilized so you can't draw any real conclusions from his play. The few times he was allowed to really play, he looked very good. I never really paid much attention to him prior to coming to the Suns but I'm hooked on his play now. I look forward to watching him now where he can get a chance to flourish.

As to Jason Richardson, he obviously can score in bunches but he has a lot of limitations. A couple of things to think about. Don't really expect him to come here and contribute as much as he did with Phoenix. Steve Nash just makes everybody look better than they really are. Not that he's bad but I would expect his stats to drop a notch. He'll still be good on offense. Defense is his real problem. Probably one of the worst defensive shooting guards in the league. Very poor on ball defense. Surprising, for being such a great athlete in some ways, he lacks lateral quickness. And sadly, his team defense is lacking. Mixed bag you're getting in JRich.

Thank you. I don't see J-Rich playing the 3. He will be a great spark off the bench for the Magic IMO.

For anyone that dislikes these deals, what did we really lose? We ditched Rashard who was playing like crap, Vince wasn't fitting in and was probably not coming back next year anyways. Petrius had worn out his welcome and become one dimensional.

I think the only guy we really lost was Gortat. But he hasn't played that well since he got his new contract. And wasn't getting minutes anyways.

I could see J-Rich's defense being a problem with Van Gundy and him losing minutes because of it. Maybe not long term, but I could definitely see some growing pains there.

Hedo will most likely look better than he has over the last 2 years but he won't be the Hedo that we once had in the NBA Finals. The good news is that our roster allows Hedo to have the ball in his hands more than he was able to in Toronto & Phx, and that is when Hedo plays well.

The good news is that we went from having Vince Carter, a guy who was brought because he was supposed to be able to create his own shots and finish the 4th quarters for us...and just simply could not...will be gone and we bring in Gilbert & Hedo, two guys capable of getting their own shot and creating for others. Both are also very capable closers.

Like I said in a previous post, Nelson is going to be the starting pg for the next couple of weeks. I don't foresee Nelson STAYING the starting PG after the All star break.

I Love this trade, i really do, we get more playmakers, they can still shoot the three, my only concerns are perimeter D, and lack of size.

Not even I could pull something like this on 2k11 :D

Really like the trades.
I'm reading people here hoping for Hedo to be the "old" Hedo... The great about this trade is that we won't need it. Gilbert and Richardson are two guys that can easilly be our two players to create their own shot on our backcourt. Hedo is just a plus and I bet we'll see him on the second unit.

Also, Meer is still starting for sure. Arenas will start at SG and play some minutes at the PG spot depending on matchups. JRich is someone I always liked and felt it was underrated. He's a HUGE improvement on our SF spot.

Now, we have plenty of depth at the PG spot and I'm very hopefull we'll trade Duhon for a backup big in a couple of days. That or we'll sign Rasheed Wallace out of retirement for the year..

For those who always marked Rashard's contract as untradeable (sp?) , we just got a 28 yo healthy Arenas for it. Damn Otis, you're good.
