Meh... not really.

He's an anonymous source who claims to be an insider and gets the latest scoop on rumours, discussions, etc. Most of what he talks about ends up never coming true (whether that's because the trade didn't end up going through or it was a total BS lie to begin with remains unknown...).

He's been right before though, notably the Heatley/Hossa trade, among others. Basically, take it with a grain of salt.

Eklund reports that the Dallas Stars are trying to get a major player from the Leafs roster. I hope it's McCabe or Kubina ( we could use the cap space).

I saw that today too.... not sure who I'D consider a major player other than Sundin or Kaberle. But i think they have a different definition than i do

Interesting quote from Eklund's blog

That however does NOT mean there won't be lawsuits...One source said to me, "No matter how this plays out someone is taking someone else to court. It could be Balsillie if the deal is denied. And that could end in many ways, but one of those ways is that Jim is given an expansion franchise. What Jim has done is blow away the two barriers. One he has proven that people will buy the tickets, and secondly he has already made nice with MLSE by offering them the rioghts to televise the games...Two barriers that NO ONE else has ever broken through. Or we could see lawsuits form other involved parties...In the end I believe that Jim will get the Preds, but if he can move them is another story...and they won't make it easy on him."

Well if that's true than the real problem here is Buffalo as far as a team in Hamilton. But it means the Leafs are getting more money off another team's success. Does this help our cause for a winning team? Or do they want people to watch them on TV so they get more money?

I don't think I'd consider Steen a major player, although sadly he does represent some of the scarce youth talent we have up front. I guess it would determine who it wa for.
On the FAN590 this morning I heard JFJ mention for the first time that they may consider moving back in the draft or even out of the first round- must be a lot of potential stuff being talked about out there. it would be nice to know some of it.

Something odd happened on Hockeybuzz

Toskala to Leafs (e4), Ek never has it this high for the Leafs so I think something is happening here. I'm surprised if it's tosakala though

more on the Toskala situation

http://www.globesports.com/servlet/stor ... ockey/home

The deal will likely cost the Leafs their first-round selection (13th overall), but is conditional on whether the Leafs can sign Toskala to an extension. There could be another player moving from the Sharks for more Toronto draft picks.

The deal better be bigger then just a #13 for Toskala swap, or Ill lose it. Toskala isnt worth that high of a pick and hes a free agent in one season. The Sharks would be a good fit for Kubina in my opinion, so hopefully the deal is more then just the pick for Toskala.

Kubina+#13

for

Toskala+ Ryan Clowe

The deal is contingent on if they can re-sign him. if they can't then no deal

I'm very high on Toskala, I've always liked him and so has San Jose management. They viewed him the best out of Kiprusoff, Nabokov, and Schaefer at the time.

While that statement is obviously not accurate but he is a legit #1

I don't like this years draft to be honest with you, but in other news it looks like the deal is done 3 draft picks for Toskala (one of them probably #13)

3 DRAFT PICKS FOR TOSKALA?

so we gave up Rask for Raycroft, now a #13 pick plus 2 other picks for Vesa Toskala?

this must be a nightmare.

Not that this is a bad deal, maybe a little too much.

But these are just the type of bonehead deals we continue to make. We should be looking more for deals like the one Philly swung last week to get Hartnell and Timonen for one first round pick.

I'm so sick of how this team has been, and continue's to be run. Even when we change management, we make the same type of moves.

We need more youth in the lineup and more prospects and we trade our first rounder for a 30 yr old goaltender and a player that up until now has been a disappointment.

Very disappointing.
