Orlando Shuffle

Post#1 » by Jackson 5ive » Sat Dec 18, 2010 9:05 pm

Orlando looks to be dealing Rashard Lewis to Washington for Arenas, and is also sending Vince Carter, Pietrus, and Gortat to Phoenix for J-Rich, Earl Clark, Turkoglu.

We get left holding the bag again. :(

I love it for Orlando.

Gortat is overpaid and seems to have hit his peak last season. He's regressed further than Crash. The only real player they are gonna miss having is Pietrus.

But, it seems to me that Nelson could be moved...maybe for a Andre Miller/Joel Przybilla package?

^ Yeah, that would indeed be a steal for Charlotte. You've got to think Orlando could do better.

If everything goes through for them as planned, I like Orlando's roster every bit as much as Miami's. They'll just be deadly 1-5 with a solid bench to boot.

:droop:

That thread is not based on trade reality, as the salaries do not match (Diaw & Kwame for Nelson). Still, I'd love to have Nelson starting here with DJ off the bench. And I'd gladly send them Jax, Diaw and Livingston for Nelson, Gortat and Bass. But that's not gonna happen with the Phoenix offer. Looks like the Suns are blowing things up a bit. Wonder if we're willing to do anything as dramatic as the Magic? I suppose not....

The deals Orlando made with both Phoenix and Washington seems to be fair deals for all 3 teams. They make sense for all 3 and no one really comes out on the short end.

I had read somewhere recently that Lewis was getting to be rather a malcontent there. I think they are just trying to get an influx of scoring for what they lose with Lewis. But I agree that I would rather have Lewis than Arenas.

Well, it's a heck of a move by Orlando. Pretty strong response to the way they've been playing. But the owner there is willing to invest tons of $ to try and get a title. That does create an interesting mix, and I wonder who will play where?

I doubt they would trade Jameer, but who knows?

Until our coaching situation changes I'm not sure any big move would work for us. We'll see how this plays out in Mickey-land.

Man the Wizards fans are going nuts on their forum demanding the GM be sacked.

I thought it was a rather predictable and sensible move. Both players are overpaid but they get 1 year less salary and at least Rashard doesn't play point guard which is their strongest position.

^ I would be too.... they trade a a bad overpaid albatross contract for an even worse(underperforming) albatross contract????????????????????????????

Are they going to bring Shard off the bench or go small with Blatche and Shard at the 4,5. I know they HAD to get rid of Arenas but for THIS????????????????????????

I think are going to try sending Shard back to the 3.

I'm guessing no one else was willing to give expirings for Gil.

I've always believed Shard would play much better at the 3. Maybe that solves his offensive struggles.

I went over there to mention that the rest of the league does not seem to think this was horrible for the Wizards, but that sure doesn't seem to be their take on it. Kinda surprised, but they like Howard better at the 3 than even thinking of Shard playing the 3.

How is it bad for Washington if they converted a contract that high at a position they didn't have a need for into a contract with one year less at a position they could use more depth at? Washington won that trade.

Are you kidding? Shard is a tall 3. He'll likely start the 3 for them.

It's great for Washington because they were able to find someone dumb enough to take Arenas. Now they can let Wall develop without Gilbert around and they get a good veteran presence in Lewis to help in the rebuilding process.

The Magic should make a play for Thabeet now as a back up to Dwight.

Arenas was a great player and is still at least a good player with a bad contract, maybe a very good player with a bad contract. We'll find out with the rest of this season.
