Official Trade Deadline Discussion Thread

Post#1 » by asubennett » Sun Dec 19, 2010 3:40 am

We still have WAY too many wings. I see one of a few things happening -

Seems like our FO will try to squeeze the most out of Carter that they can and let him expire at the end of the year for CBA environment flexibility. That being said - who do we pursue and who do we rid ourselves of.

1. Anthony Randolph. Cheap date for a first if the Orlando first will cut it. Not sure I like this move to compete during Nash's last years.

2. Brand or Brand & Iggy. If we can parlay two wings Lopez and a pick into this I am all ears.

3. Thompson or Thompson & Dally. Would LOVE this but feel like Thompson is becoming more entrenched into Sac's long term plans.

4. Scola. A man can dream cant he? If Houston is going to blow it up Scola would be great here.

5. Melo? Would a Vince Carter, Robin Lopez, J. Chill and two first round picks be enough to get him?

6. J. Smooth. Not sure what Atl would want back from us....

So many possibilities but we can not run with Hill, Carter, J. Chill, Dudley, Pietrus log jam.

Nash and Lopez. :D

And it's Smoove.

Making a move for Troy Murphy makes a lot of sense right now.

I posted what we should do in another thread, involving Denver and NY.

Something like Carter, Chandler, and picks from us and NY to Denver, Curry/Randolph/Afflalo to PHX, and Carmelo to NY.

Carter to NO for Okafor and Belinelli?

NO would kill for money relief...

............I'd probably trade my left or right nut for this one:

Carter + Orlando 2011 + Suns 2011 to Minnesota for Kevin Love and filler.

Nash/Dragic
Pietrus/Dudley
Hill/Childress
Love/Frye/Warrick
Lopez/Gortat/Lawal

Good idea for a thread. It's obvious this move alone doesn't put us where we need to be. I'd start of with the Sixers trade. If we're taking on Brand then Iggy has to come with him. Then go for Murphy, and finally if nothing else pans out go for Randolph. No waiting though, the sooner we make a move the sooner we can start working on team chemistry.

Minnesota would riot and publicly crucify Khan biblical-style if that happened, lol

I think the most obvious move is a 1st to the Knicks for Anthony Randolph, they have been searching for a 1st for a possible Melo trade and with a tough stretch of games coming in the next month they may be willing to even make us a sweeter deal.

I'd also be on the lookout for teams that are close to being blown up or need financial relief, primarily the Rockets, Bobcats, Trailblazers, Hornets, Kings, 76ers, Pacers, Nets, and Nuggets. I think trading within the western conference will be problematic, so I think the 76ers, Bobcats, Nets, and Pacers are our top trading partners at the moment (not saying a trade between say the Kings and Suns isn't possible, I just think the GMs prefer to trade out of conference)

Andre Iguodala + Brand sounds intriguing, but not sure what they would want from us, especially if the reported trade rumors of the Trailblazers being shot down offering Pryzbilla + Batum for Iggy are true.

Seems like the Bobcats are always linked to us as trade partners, haha. Anyways, they may offer any combination of players to us, specifically Stephen Jackson + Boris Diaw, but I don't see the Suns having much interest. Course, I thought there wasn't much interest in Jason Richardson on the Suns part as well.

With the Nets, its pretty much Troy Murphy. There are a number of players we could offer for him and from the sounds of it, the Nets don't mind moving him. However, I think Troy Murphy is sortof akin to our "safety valve" trade in that we will only make an offer for him once we explore every other option. Not because Murphy is a bad player or anything, but rather it seems almost guaranteed that we could work out a deal for him if we really want him.

The Pacers are truly the odd team to figure out. They have been middling about in the East for quite some time now and every year we hear rumors of them being blown up or trading Granger for other key pieces + assets. However, if the rumors are true and Granger is available, even with his bad attitude when playing against the Suns, I think we have to explore ways in which to acquire him. I'm not saying he'll solve our problems, but in a few years, he may be one of our star players next to our young core.

Just my views of course.

Childress/ORL 1st to NYK for AR/Turiaf.

Nash/Dragic
VC/Dudley
Hill/Pietrus
AR/Frye/Warrick
Lopez/Gortat/Turiaf

Maybe when we get Lawal out of the D-League, give him 3rd string PF and move Warrick to 3rd string SF

So many options. Get a vet, go young....hummmmm.

I say go the cheap route; RANDOLPH and filler for Orl's 1st and Warrick. I want to see Randolph along side of Nash.

Randolph is very intriguing but what do we do with the log jam of wings?

Someone metioned Jeff Green. I like that idea. Can we consolidate Grant Hill (OKC would want his veteran leadership on that young contendining squad), Warrick, J. Chill and a first rounder for Harden and Green? Maybe we have to throw in Lopez instead of Warrick. Clearly I am not even checking if these salaries work - Just tossing around thoughts.

How do we get Randolph just in case he turns out to be Lamar Odom plus and how do we convert our 8 million wings into something more rotation friendly and productive?

I honestly dont think by plugging in more players is the key. we have to relize what this team is, its future and so forth. And honestly, I dont see much out of this team. I think AR is a nice player, but I am not sold on him like most in this form are. I rather go after a young stud in the draft and rebuild. Kind of what we did with Amare.

I like Perry Jones III out of Baylor, but I also like Jared Sullinger out of OSU too. It would be a long shot as of now to land one of these guys, but I keep seeing that we are still ridding a 36 yr old PG and not facing the truth. I think if we can make some trades, that fine, but I look at picks as gold now and think we need to hang on to them instead of trading them away.

But turning a Mid-Late 20s pick into AR is pretty good. We'd still have a lotto pick. I still say trade Nash and Hill to a contender...
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Suns get: Andre Iguodala + Jason Thompson

Sixers get: Vince Carter (PHX 1st)

Kings get: Hakim Warrick (ORL 1st)

We could sign JT in the offseason but many teams will want his services. Sarver dumps a 1st and gets Warrick off the books.

2011-12
Nash, Dragic
Pietrus, Dudley
Iggy, Childress
JT, Frye
Gortat, Lopez
+ Lawal etc

Best defensive team the Suns have had in years and all fit the system...

How do you guys feel about Monta Ellis? Monta for Robin, Carter and a first rounder? Or is that too much? I'm really not sure how valuable you guys see Robin as.

A.Randolph for Orlando pick is fair...

Randolph is a bench warmer to them..

To the Suns, he has tremendous benefits... length, youth, athletism and a PF.

at this point anything is possible. that 1st rounder we just got is really good bait for another trade before the dead line.
