Re: Official: Arenas/Hedo/Jrich takin talents to central FLORIDA
I was thinking, after the Nuggets game, that a good trade would give us a shooter at point guard and an impact player at small forward. I agree with the Rashard trade, since it doesn't look like the guy will ever be any more than decent, now. I am conflicted about losing Carter, since he was great until that damn flu hit our team, and now we'll never know if he could have returned to form with time. If J-Rich is as good as advertised, I can live with though. The biggest gain for the Magic was getting multiple perimeter players that can handle the ball. We don't have anyone who needs to work off other players. We'll see how this works out, though it's pretty shocking to log on to Orlando Pinstriped Post and find out that a third of your team has been replaced. Good luck to dearly departed and newcomers alike!
Remember when Kobe elbowed Jameer in the chin so hard Jameer was knocked down and sent skidding across the floor?

When Carter played with Kidd, VC was not a 30 ppg guy. I am not sure that I agree with you.

Any of Carter's numbers in NJ are an 'explosion' over his line in Orlando.

anyway my point is not about who is better out of Richardson and carter, my point is is richardson going to really make much of a difference to vince?? I dont really think so and for that reason I say it was a pointless trade especially when u r losing a decent backup centre

Re: Official: Arenas/Hedo/Jrich takin talents to central FLORIDA
I think it was a panic button trade style
too much of a shakedown
too many bad contracts taken...>overpaying
chemistry issues etc
dunno if it was worth the trouble...
its not like Arenas led any team to win or take any over the hump...
and its not like Turk is a better player now nor his younger...but oh well hes having his pockets full or money
j-rich is expiring and aging (not aging badly yet but aging
) and we will have to decide if to go 100+M in salary or let him go
intoxicated whatever ;D
I really dont give a d... what you think of me
whatever peace...
its just my oppinion
always was and always will be

Re: Official: Arenas/Hedo/Jrich takin talents to central FLORIDA
I say the moves as a whole seem pretty good, but taken separately, I think Phoenix definitely got the best of us.
They took in Carter and Pietrus' expiring deals, brought in a young starting caliber C and all they needed to give up in exchange was Richardson. Earl Clark was a raw prospect they had no need for and Hedo, well, that's self-explanatory.
The game-changer here is the Lewis-Arenas swap. If Arenas is as good as we think he can be, then that makes up for absorbing Turkoglu's contract and losing some of that depth. I'm still puzzled as to why Otis couldn't have stopped at Arenas and shipped Carter/Gortat off elsewhere.

I have a feeling Turk is going to be a lot better for us then you think Hilltop.
The best thing about this trade IMO is the flexibility, we have so many trade options at the deadline, we need another big!

Troy Murphy could be available without giving up a whole lot. He'd be a nice stretch four with the ability to rebound. A double-double guy. Do you have the cap room?
Nelson-Richardson-Turkoglu-Bass-Howard with Arenas and Murphy as supersubs.

totally agree with u HILLTOP that was all I was pretty much trying to say!
I just think we could have got a better trade than the one we did with the Suns. after getting Arenas are we really going to need richardson to score as much as he normally does?? why not get a defensive stopper instead? Who knows maybe the new chemistry will work perfectly - all I was trying to say was after getting Arenas I think their could have been better deals out there then the suns one

Re: Official: Arenas/Hedo/Jrich takin talents to central FLORIDA
I'll be more than happy to see Hedo succeed. If he turns out better than expected, then that's good.
I just wonder if there were other variations of the Carter/Gortat trade that Smith could've pulled off. Perhaps one that netted us a replacement C and a wing, instead of two wings that only add to the clusterfcuk and not to mention, the bad contracts we already have on our hands.
Remember that if Richardson leaves next season, we essentially gave up Carter, Gortat and Pietrus for Hedo. That's a rather unsettling thought.

That's why I think he's gonna come off the bench, Gil can create his own shot and score at will, while Jrich can't dribble or penetrate and nowadays has become a spot up shooter. Oh well, it seems Stan's volatile attitude will be put to the test one more time

Wow man, i've just came from a barbecue with friends! I'M JUST SHOCKED! Very surprised. I didn't see this comming, not this big!
I really love Richardson addition! I LOVE HIS HUSTLE! Arenas is an awsome player and I think he wil be great to our team.
WHAT A TRADE MAN! I'm really sad watching Shard go but i know he was not earning his contract. He has not reached the expectations. I would have sent Richardson, not Pietrus but I think that's OK.
did we want a blockbuster deal? NOW WE ARE TALKING!

You do know we had Hedo for like years already right? We know what we're getting with him ,pizza, parties, flu and all. However, we also have to throw in his point blank passes and PnR offensive game with Dwight. Too bad he didn't do that with your all-star big man stud in Barg > Dirk right?
We got older? Arenas is actually younger than VC and Lewis!

Hedo is not a scrub, he flourishes in SVG's system (not Toronto's system or Phoenix's system, only ORLANDO'S!), but he's not expected to score 15ppg like he used to for us... he's expected to fill his role at SF and play Point-Forward, and use PNR offense with Howard, and maybe occasionally play some stretch-4 for us for match-up purposes, so he is ideal to SVG's system
Arenas still has a lot left in the tank, don't fool yourself, and J-Rich is a pure scorer/slasher/cutter
And how did we get "even older"?
Richardson is 30 (on January), Arenas is 29 (on January), Hedo is 31, and Earl is 23 (on January)
We gave up Carter (34 on January), Rashard Lewis is 31, Gortat is 27 (on February), and Pietrus is 29 (on February)
Carter and Rashard are all older than Richardson and Arenas, and Hedo is the about same age as Rashard (and only a couple years older than Pietrus), and Earl is really young (younger than Gortat)
If anything, this trade addressed all of our needs and then some... the only thing Orlando need is a backup competent big to play behind Howard for a few minutes... which we can find by unloading Duhon, Q, and Williams

hhmmmm...you are right....BUT YOU STILL GET OLDER AND OLDER!!! (in your dreams
)
Boys try to understand this guy, he's a fan of one of the most mediocre teams in NBA history.
We really get better and that's what really matters. Arenas and Richardson are so much better than what we gave and Turkoglu can do exactly the same that Lewis did.
End of story.
