And we have no doubt you'll grow to understand why so many in D.C. consider him one of their, if not their single most, favorite basketball player in the history of the game. Forget all that you've read in the media and go meet the dude. He's as cool as they come. Beat Miami!!!

The love for Arenas on the Wiz board is a complete opposite of the general disdain on this board for the performances of the departing Lewis and Carter - this says a lot for quality of the player we are acquiring (especially considering the problems he had in Washington) This plus the tremendous talent of JR makes me very optimistic.

Whatever they are saying now don't be surprised if down the road Nelson is coming off the bench and this would not be a bad thing should it prove out!

A cheaper SG? Do you realize that compared to most people on this team, Redick is making minimum wage???

4.5 mil or 5 mil or whatever it is .. thats nothing when the cap hold after J-Rich res-signs will be 90+!

Redick is the perfect backup SG, he ain't going nowhere unless it's some kind of wow deal

It may happen for a big but not because JJ is out in the cold now. Lets say th arenas trade works and Gil is ieven 80% of what he once was. Condolences to Jameer but he then needs to be the one coming off the bench. He's the odd man out as far as I see and that would probably be even more obvious if not for friendship politics. So to me the whole goal of this is that Arenas becomes the second to Dwight and JR the third. So down the line they start. period. that has to be the goal.

That means Starting guards are Arenas and JR. SO theres no reason not to have JJ right where he is now - the backup SG. Now if a decent big can be found then JJ would be gone but right now the one thing incomplete about all of this is defensively. If there is another move it better be on that front because we are swish cheese whenever Dwight steps off the floor.

Arenas is NOT washed up. He's not 2006 Arenas that can drive through three guys and get to the line 10 times a night but he can still shoot, he can still drive and pull up quite well, he still posts well against smaller guards and I'd say now he looks to pass more. But the Wiz are getting a great player back in Rashard Lewis, right? RIGHT??? (I'm afraid I know the answer to that, congrats on the fleecing).

Be patient with Arenas, I think it will take him a little time to learn the system and fit in, but he will get there, it just probably won't be instantly.

As much as it might bug some fans, we're going to lead the league in laughs and smiles. VC never fit with Dwight. I can see Dwight loving being around that guy, and we know he loves Hedo as well. Dwight has a guy who might actually joke more than him now.

Good point - but let's hope the laughing and joking occurs before and after the game not during unless we are up by 30 points!!

Agreed. People forget what makes JJ so expensive is the salary cap penalty and that his contract was market value. Chicago actually made that offer and we matched. On any trade we still pay out the penalty. Theres no reason to look for another shooting guard. If there is a move then its for a big to backup Dwight.. However as a big JJ fan I wouldn't mind seeing him somewhere where he had a bigger role.

What would be funny is if they packaged JJ and Jameer and Anderson for Elton Brand

I`d be pretty happy when Gilbert is running the offense at PG.

We won`t see any ugly Duhon and J-Will anymore :)

I'm happy for Magic fans and I applaud the aggressiveness of Otis Smith. The Magic were getting stale, they needed a jolt to the system and I like that this didn't take until the trade deadline. It gives the team time to gain some chemistry. This new squad has some exciting potential.
much respect to the 2011-2012 champions, Miami Heat, well deserved

We have:

Pg - Nelson - Arenas - Williams - Duhon
Sg - J Rich - Arenas - JJ
Sf - Hedo - J Rich - Q Rich
Pf - Bass - Anderson - Malik
C - D12 - Malik - Orton

So I belive comom sense will agree that JJ, Duhon and Q Rich are spendable and a big is needed! Not necessary PHD to do the math...

Otis is still on the phone, just waiting for the last domino to fall...

The only thing separating the Knicks (Isiah years) and the Magic now is Dwight... Hear me out. What will this team do if Dwight leaves as a free agent?

Hire Debbie Downer to investigate?

By the way, thats a huge difference (the Dwight factor) ... THATS the reason they are paying .. unlike the Knicks who had nobody to build around
