According to Ek, the leafs chose Vessy over Vokun

my bet is, if true, that they were giving up more if it was Vokuun

The Leafs would've chosen Vokoun over Toskala, so I agree. They probably would've wanted a White, Stajan or Steen type of player as well.

Looks like Vokuun was traded to Florida so we'll have a better idea what they wanted

Some interesting Rumors thorughout Draft night, but nothing major really developed after teh Vokoun/Toskala deals.

Alot of talk between PHI/TOR with TOR going after the 2nd overall pick. Word is Holmgren wanted Steen and picks.....not happening in this years draft crop.

Can't wait for Canada Day! t least the NBA draft is right in between, it'll make the wait a little shorter...lol.

Actually I retract this statement. After viewing Vokoun's salary over the next few years...I'm glad the Leafs chose Toskala over him.

^^^ It is still a move that makes no sense to me in terms of the direction of this team. It is another example of the inconsistencies of Leafs management. JFJ two years in a row picks up a goalie while mortgaging our future when both goalies are not sure fire # 1's. I'd rather the Leafs not make this trade to begin with BUT if they wanted to forgo draft picks and the future for a goalie then they should have gone after Vokoun regardless of his contract. If you are going to make a move, do it right, don't do it halfway, which is what this leafs management does. Last summer they could have pursued Giguere, Nabakov or Toskala but went the cheaper route and picked up Raycroft because it didn't cost them as much as those others would. But we are seeing now, that you cannot take shortcuts to get where you want whether that be building for the present or building for the future...ultimately you lose.

Outstanding post.
You're bang on.
Go hard or go home. None of this half measures bull.
The franchise is a joke and Cox got it exactly right why in his column today.

^^^ What I meant by that comment is that IF the leafs wanted to have a goalie for the short term, a goalie that will get them into the playoffs then last year there were better options available. BUT the leafs chose Raycroft because he was younger and cheaper and because of that move (which is the whole concept of rebuilding on the fly) we are here today with another draft pick being peddled away to make up for that mistake. I'd rather have given up MORE last summer, had to take Giguere or Nabakov and deal with the reality that I would have to pay them big bucks for a long time THAN take a cheap alternative. It's a typical JFJ move, short-sighted and not enough onions.

Eklund mntioned Nagy to the Leafs as a rumor. Another 45-50pt guy...not sure how I'd feel about this.

Go get Kariya and put him on Sundin's wing.

Alright so there are rumours of Kubina being traded as early as tomorrow in an effort to save money. Edmonton is the only rumoured team i heard.

This could be connected to Smyth.

Also rumours with Karyia are getting louder and louder

I REALLY hope we don't sign Smyth. His contract is going to make McCabe's look like a bargain.
