What about Thorton+Yi for Banks+Anderson?

Everyone expires and make the same amount of money. Banks gives us a needed 3rd PG and Anderson gives us a big body who can shoot. Thorton and Yi are more talented but won't get PT here.

My latest on operation GLOOT ("Get Lewis Out Of Town):

Wiz trade: Lewis+McGee for Brand+Batum+Kapono (expiring)
Por trades: Roy+Camby+Marks (expiring)+Batum for Lewis+Turner+McGee
Philly trades: Brand+Turner+Kapono for Roy+Camby+Marks (expiring)

NEW LINEUPS:
Wiz:
PG: Wall/Hinrich
SG: Young/Martin
SF: Howard/Batum
PF: Blatche/Booker
C: Brand/Seraphin

Philly:
PG: Holiday/L.Williams
SG: Roy/L.Williams/Iggy
SF: Iggy/Nocioni
PF: Young/Speights
C: Camby/Hawes

Por:
PG: Miller/Mills
SG: Turner/Rudy
SF: Matthews/Lewis
PF: Aldridge/Lewis
C: McGee/Phrysbilla

WHY FOR THE WIZ?
1) With a glut of SFs, Lewis isn't needed or wanted by any Wiz fans. Brand at least brings some vet toughness and rebounding to the center position.

WHY FOR THE Blazers?
1) They blow it up and rebuild. Turner and McGee are both young and cheap. Lewis' contract sucks, but it expires in 2 years after this year.

WHY FOR THE 76ers?
1) They gamble on Roy returning to all-star form. He'd be a good fit next to Iggy, and Camby provides much needed help at the center position.

Roy is the worst contract in the league now. He is 100%, medically certified done. I wouldn't even trade Contract for him.

And, though he seems like a nice guy, he hasn't conceded that he is done. That is a nasty combination for a rebuilding team. At least Contract seems to recognize he's just a contract.

OK, What about this one:

Wiz trade McGee+Lewis for Biedrins+Gadzuric (exp)+Bell (2012 expiring)?

Wiz get some major cap relief this year with Gadzuric expiring, and Bell expires next year. Biedrins' deal runs one year longer than Lewis, but I actually think he's deal is quite reasonable.

GSW does the deal b/c McGee and Lewis add some needed frontcourt depth, while McGee is the key to this deal in their eyes.

Why would we trade a 22 year old, super athletic center while getting nothing back but cap relief?

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Uhm, because mhd really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really doesn't like Rashard Lewis and will do any old crazy thing to get him off the team up to but not including arsenic in a tea cup?

But I'm checking the 'no' box on all of these ballots too.

You never know, Shart could be like the new bacteria they found that incorporates arsenic into it's DNA.

He'd just consume the arsenic tea cup and flex his roided muscles in mhd's face. 8-)

Hmmmmm, if the genetic alterations from that improved his lower groinal acrobatic coordination, he could be just the sort of wing that some of our more forward thinking posters have been pining for.

A lot of great laughs in regards to the GLOOT scenario. I'm for it for the most part, but no way I'd give away our core--Wall, McGee, Young, and Blatche (depending on the deal, especially for Blatche).

There is no chance of Lewis getting bought out this season. If there is a lockout Ted won't have to pay Lewis for any games not played so it doesn't make sense to do a buyout until next season.

If it was up to me he would get extended time on the inactive list. The Hawks did that with Tony Delk early in their rebuid. He was clearly good enough to get minutes but they didn't want him taking minutes away from the young guys.

Wiretap says J-Chill might be on the move:

The Suns may not be done dealing, according to Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic.

They completed a six-player trade with the Magic on Saturday, sending Jason Richardson, Hedo Turkoglu and Earl Clark to Orlando for Vince Carter, Mickael Pietrus and Marcin Gortat.

"This might not be the last Suns deal either. They're still working other avenues. With this trade, they have just as many wings as before," Coro wrote on his Twitter page.

You know, just as a trivia point, Shart for Vince Carter and Josh Childress might actually save Phoenix money if there's games lost next year and or our guy can't reach his performance incentives. Even without games being lost, it's pretty close depending on your perspective.

Including this year, (some of which has already been paid):

Shart = $50.7 million if only $10 million is guaranteed, but $21 million of that comes in the lockout year.
Wince and J-Chill = $54 million total with Vince's small guaranteed number; much longer obligations running through 2015, but only at MLE type numbers

We know Ernie likes Childress, though it could be argued that the shorter obligations to Rash-Lew are better to swallow now.

Kick in $3 million and a second round pick? I don't know what other sorts of minor incentives we could offer.

Childress would be a bad fit. He can't score outside 5 feet. He literally averages less than one field goal per game from the perimeter.

He is also a weak defender who is constantly leaking out early to cherry pick, letting the rest of the team try and defend/rebound. On offense he is always the last guy to get back on D because he crashes the offensive glass every time which leads to easy fast break baskets for the other team.

I remember posting about this here last year. There is a reason the Suns are looking to get rid of him so quickly.

It's also notable that Rashard Lewis is the type of guy Phoenix likes - a guy with deadly 3-point range who can play the 4.

tontoz's comments not withstanding, I'd definitely do that deal. It may be more total money, but once Vince is out of here, we're just talking about $7M a year for Childress. I don't much like Childress' fit on this team, but he is at least a serviceable NBA player.

All that said, I don't consider this deal very likely. If Orlando was having so many conversations with Phoenix and Washington to arrange the trades, you would think that a 3-way trade would have came up in the discussion.

Yeah, it's not likely based on the whole "It'd be done already if it were gonna get done" angle.

tontoz, if you're right I guess we can at least feel good that there's somebody that we shouldn't trade Shart for out there.

I have seen just a few pieces of some Phoenix games this year other than our away game and can't say much about J-Chil other than it seems like he can play without the ball. I did see him go to the O-Glass, as you mention; I guess when you're casually watching you say "nice O-board by Chil!" and when he's on your team you say "Get back on D, ya' bum!"

Exactly. Most of the times when he goes for the offensive board he doesn't get it and winds up trailing behind in transition just like McGee.

The Suns just traded Hedo and JRich, two guys playing in front of him, yet they are looking to deal Childress too. That says a lot.

I read your news from the Post, and I was curious if a trade would be an option.

With Arenas being swapped for a 6-foot-10 power forward in Lewis (who will take his physical and likely play against Charlotte on Monday), Grunfeld said that the Wizards would have to sign another point guard. The team waived Lester Hudson earlier this season to sign Alonzo Gee, but now the team is lacking ball handlers. Hinrich played all but six seconds in the Wizards' 95-94 loss to the Miami Heat on Saturday. "We'll probably look to bring in someone to back him up," Grunfeld said. "Because of John's injury situation and the trade, we'll probably have to bring in somebody else. There's nothing structural [with Wall]. But until the pain subsides, we're not going to rush him back, that's for sure."

Some options include bringing back Hudson, signing free agent Jannero Pargo or Patrick Beverley, or plucking from the NBA Developmental League Mustafa Shakur or Kyle Weaver.

I don't know if they would be interested in Telfair (expiring) or whether Sundiata Gaines unguaranteed contract might make a nice piece in a larger trade. I think Telfair might be traded on Tuesday, after the end of the Wolves 5-game road trip, as rumors persist that NYK wants him to help Felton with some of those minutes, but they also have asked about Ridnour. Their choice would probably be decided whether they know Melo will be coming this season (Ridnour), or if they think they need to wait, and need to keep the 2011 cap space (Telfair). Neither Telfair or Gaines has much value, but I thought I'd toss some crumbs to your trade gurus, and see if they could make them into a snack.

I assume the only parts, if you can even call them that, that we would be willing to move would be Yi or Al Thorton. We will be lucky if we get a point guard with two arms.

With Lewis on board, both Yi and Thornton have become (even more) expendable. Thornton is third in the SF rotation behind Josh Howard and Lewis, Yi is 4th in the PF rotation behind Blatche, Lewis and Booker.

The ideal move would be to trade one or both of Thornton/Yi (both are expiring) for a backup PG on an expiring contract.

Thornton for Telfair makes sense.
or Thornton for Acie Law
