Only guy I'm sad to see go is Cain. He looked like he could be a great player.

Let's face it, Escobar sucked last season. Doesn't look like he'll be anything more than a good defensive SS. Maybe a change of scenery will help him.

Losing prospects is a gamble, but give me an established ace for prospects any day of the week. If one of them blows up in the next 3-4 years, yeah I'll be feeling a little bad, but at least the next 2 seasons should be awesome with Greinke.

Nothing great, but I think a couple of those guys could be better options than Betencourt.

I would take Orlando Cabrera, the problem is we are pretty much tapped out in terms of payroll.

Now go get Ricky Nolasco from Florida and your rotation is set.

Greinke
Gallardo
Marcum
Nolasco
Wolf

That would be sweet.

Actually, I didn't realize how much Cabrera sucked. Give me Renteria. Offer him a $4 million deal and the starting job, which he won't get in San Francisco.

We won't make another pitching move that adds salary, nor do we need to. This is top 2-3 NL rotation right now. I think we do have two significantly big holes in CF and SS though. Between CF/SS/Lucroy/P, bottom of the lineup could be looking pretty weak.

Would anyone here rather have traded Gamel than Cain if possible?

The problem was the Royals didn't want Gamel. They're stocked at the corner positions with Hosmer, Butler and Moustakas. They have nothing up the middle, so they targeted Cain.

Perfect timing to make a trade, too. People will be talking this all week, and then all weekend with their families. Should help in selling a lot of tickets.

I agree with all that, specifically bringing back Cameron

+1. Cameron was greatly missed last year, IMO. Love Cameron.

Sounds like it might still be Jeffress or Rogers as the PTBNL.

If it is Rogers I'm not happy.

Send them Jeffress and plant a joint on him on his way to the airport. :P

Maybe the PTBNL is Wil Nieves. Doug Melvin is a genius!

Having Gallardo as our 3rd SP is going to be great.

In less than a split-second. Royals wanted Cain, though. They had to have.

Yes to Renteria. He'd be better than what we got.

Are we done? I'm not so sure. Done acquiring pitching, sure, but I could see another trade to solidify something up the middle. With all of this new pitching we got, where does Parra fit in? Could we finally jump ship in an attempt to improve what's now at SS or CF?

I would have rather had Gamel. Partly because I think he's our 1B after Prince leaves, partly because I'm just not a massive fan of Cain. You have to like the defense but he's not a threat at the plate.

Per TH's twitter:
Jeffress still could be the PTBNL in Greinke trade. Royals are reviewing his record of drug suspensions before signing off on him.

Strangely worded making the first part sound like speculation and the second part sound like fact. Nonetheless, looks like Jeffress might still be in the deal.
