Dragic's value

Post#1 » by KnicksPie » Sun Dec 19, 2010 6:17 am

Im in NY but occasionally I catch suns games on League Pass. I can't help but take notice to dragic. He seems pretty good...kinda steve nash ish. Did I just see flashes of great plsy or he is legit?...

Also whats his trade value to you?...would you let the aging nash go before him?

Dragic will likey be re-signed this offseason. I dunno what the Knicks could offer, i lke AR but a straight up swap isn't nearly enough.

I would. He's young and he's good. He's not Nash offensively, but he's legit. I think Hedo leaving will help him alot too. I wouldn't give him up unless it was for a disgruntled superstar. Like Melo. But that won't happen, so I wouldn't agree to any trade that any other team would actually offer right now

It would have to be stupid good - Gasol for Kwame level - for us to move Goran. We love him and he keeps getting better. This year has sucked (for Gogi) mostly because of the roster but we believe

Yeah... pretty sure with what the Suns did to get him in the first place, and with his above expected progress that he's on the small list of no-way-in-hell-does-he-get-traded players on the roster.

Others... Nash/Hill (because Nash would leave if Hill got traded, pretty sure)

I don't see the Suns trading away Frye, maybe they'd trade Lopez for the perfect PF.

Everyone else on the roster can be had for the right price... but no way Dragic gets moved.

For some reason I knew you guys would love him. I swear when I watch him I feel like he passes like Steve Nash. Not exactly as accurate but he seems like his mentality is team first. I'm a Knicks fan and I would love to have him behind or next to Felton. I was thinking AR + toney Douglas gets him but I guess that's not even close

He's gona be special. Nash as a mentor and he's still 24. Our roster was a mess at the beginning of the year so I think he'll do better now that we have a traditional center out there now.

Keep watching him and you'll see occasional flashes of Manu Ginobili.

To get him from the Suns would take a king's ransom or Dragic would have to balk on signing an extension with PHX.

Question for the "locals"...

1. What is Goran's value to the Suns...how high do you think the FO will go to extend him?
2. What's your guess on what Goran and his agent think he's due?

I'm not sure at all what the Suns think would be fair.

If Ray Felton is getting more than 8 million per, I have a feeling Dragic is thinking somewhere north of that number. (of some note: Dragic paid a million out of his own pocket just to get here)

Will the Suns be good in giving Dragic a 5 year 45 million dollar deal. I'm guessing that might be the starting point from the Goran Dragic camp.

Yeah, to me he's more of a Manu light right now than Steve Nash.

:o

That seems too much, Dudley/Frye type of deal seems more reasonable.

I think he'd stay. He's got Igor working with him... he knows he's gonna be the man once Nash is (sadly) retired. He's got the confidence building support system from the coaches. 2 more seasons, maybe more to get mentored by Nash. He leaves and he could be a bench PG for the next 5 seasons. He seems like a classier type of act that isn't gonna chase the money. just my opinion...

Ray Felton got 8. I'm sure Goran can find a team in need of a point guard to give him at least that much...though the Suns can lock him up for one more season at 2 mil.

I'd be shocked if he'd be willing to sign at Frye/Dudleyish numbers.

I have soft spot for the Knicks going back to the Willis/Dave D/Clyde era. Great to see Amar'e doing so well there. How's Walker this year? - love that guy

I hope you're right and Goran is good with those numbers. I do believe it'll take more.

Not sure on the ins and out on the of exercising team options or how the looming lockout effects that, but if the Suns don't activate his '11-'12 option. He's going to be a free agent, real soon.

EDIT: A restricted free agent

The Mike Conley contract is probably going to be brought up in terms of Dragic's contract. The thing about Dragic is, he may be a back-up but the only reason is because he has a top 3 PG ahead of him, so you're paying based on what he could do when he's given the minutes instead of his current numbers.

5/35 seems reasonable.

Reportedly, Conley got 5 years, 45 million

I see him getting Felton money. Maybe 5/40mill. I got to be honest though, phx looks like they will rebuild in the next couple of years. Locking that kid up seems like a good fit.

On the Manu comparison- I see where your coming from. He def has that mentality..I don't know if he can get to the rack consistently like Manu does. But then again Manu does nothing great...everything very good.
