Wayne Ellington

Always was a fan from hic North Carolina days, is there a reason he doesn't play more, and would he be available in a trade? If so, what are you looking for in return?

He doesnt play because he is our worst defender, and that is saying something. He is definitely available. As for what I want in return, I am not quite sure.

I got this from DraftExpress but it seems to be the same case here in Minnesota.
Defensively, Ellington leaves a lot to be desired. He’s not someone that you would ever call a scrapper and doesn’t really cause havoc on this end of the court. He doesn’t have an overly impressive wingspan (6-7) and his lateral quickness could use some work. He gets exposed when isolated on the perimeter against a quicker player, but struggles perhaps even more when chasing an opposing guard through screens. He must improve greatly here for his stock to have any chance at rising.

He tries to avoid contact when driving to the lane as well and ends up getting a lot of his shots blocked. I think he relies a lot on his jumper and can sometimes get lost and disappears out on the court.

On the positive side, he's a good shooter and has decent handles. I can't see him having much value by himself but he could (and probably will) be a part of a package that brings in a bigger fish.

he always looks good when he's getting minimal minutes, everytime they let him go for an extended run he disappears. He's definitely had his opportunities and he couldnt hold onto them, now he's gotta wait.

He can't stay in front of anyone defensively and he's become a chucker on offence now. I doubt he's here long term.

Even when he's getting consistent minutes, he's a really streaky shooter. He'll have a few can't miss games then follow it up with a week of bricks, which is strange because he's got a really smooth jumper like Wes.
