Game 14- My birthday and all I want is for somehow Charlie to take over at QB and win. A tall order, but c'mon I've been appropriately bad all year and deserve it.

Injury update:

Seahawks-

Pitts is out with ankle sprain(G) our best recievers will play but gimpy

Falcons
don't know don't care... they're good.

Things to Watch:

1-QB- is this Matt's last game before we have to find out what our future looks like with CBJ?

2-Ryan vs the worst secondary in the league.

3-the Rams... probably need to lose to keep us in the hunt. but if that happens do we *gulp* have to keep playing Matt?

Predictions-

a spanking and a new qb era as our reward for taking it on the chin

All signs point to us getting killed. So therefore we'll probably win. 8-)

Can you believe the 49ers are 5-9 and still in it as of this moment? :rofl2:

What an opening drive! Very balanced, hitting the short passing game and running Lynch/Forsett right up the gut.

7-0 Hawks!

I hate our play calling/game management. We've got a surprising 10-7 score and 4:51 to go in the half. I'm thinking that there is no way we want to give them the ball back before the end of the half unless it's after a TD.

What do we do? Throw 3 low percentage passes that take very little time off the clock, and give them the ball back with 4:20 to go in the half.

Ugh!

17-10 ATL, half.

A play on their final TD drive at the end of the half summed up the season pretty well. Three Hawks are converging on Matt Ryan, each of them quite capable of taking him down for a momentum-stealing sack. So what do we do? One of them, for no particular reason at all, decides it would be a good idea to take Ryan down by his facemask. 15 yards and a first down for ATL. Ryan-to-Jenkins results in 6 a few seconds later.

My mistake, Hass fumbling in the endzone is a better representation of Seattle's season. Hass... running bootleg? In the EZ? Trying to out-juke a defender? Not only that, a blatant facemask naturally goes uncalled. Just an epic fail on so many levels.

I am teetering on the notion of wanting us to drop these last 3 games and finish 6-10 to get better 1st and 2nd round picks in next spring's draft. I mean really. I think moving up a handful of potentially key spots in the draft may be more important than this silly playoff drive.

Is anybody with me on this? I know you're not supposed to think in such terms, but it's hard for me not to.

What I'm having problems with today and last week are these horrible mental mistakes made by BOTH the players and the coaching staff. Last week's game and now this week's game...so many points and key shifts of momentum were just handed by us to the 49ers and Falcons. Both of these games we could have been potentially in if we could just have eliminated most of the many blatant miscues, horrible mental mistakes, terrible play calls. We've just looked amateurish. That's what's bothered the hell out of me. The WAY we're losing.

I'm losing some good faith in our coaching staff. We just haven't been properly mentally prepared for these games.

For the love of God stick Hass on the bench already.

I agree without the concern about the coaching staff. The often doesn't seem prepared, we have very little talent on th roster, we throw deep a lot just and end up in a third and long we can never convert, we challenge plays we won't win, we go for it on fourth down when we shouldnt...I have no idea what to make of this mess.

What good does it do us to get in the playlets with a losing record? So we can have the honor of being the team that spurs changes to playoff seeding next year? Let the Rams have that fun and let us suck without the nation watching us do so.

I know we're short on talent. I get that. I'm not stupid. But we don't have to show up and play like we've been playing the last two weeks when we're ACTUALLY STILL ALIVE for the playoffs. The will to win, to prepare hard and intelligently to win, to not play so stupidly, to not coach so stupidly should be givens here, not something I have to pray for.

If we lose, we lose. But let's not look like complete incompetent fools in doing so.

Yeah...that's completely how I feel. Losses happen when your team isn't good, but the constant stream of blowouts is inexcusable.

Hey look! Charlie can execute a rollout properly...nice work!

Good for Charlie. No harm in starting him next week, methinks.

I don't know, Sweezo. I was always wary of the PC hiring, but hoped for the best, and was willing to give it time, give him a chance. I've got this nauseating feeling in my stomach now that he may not be the right man for the job, yet I know he's going to be around for awhile. I sure hope I'm wrong, that he will get smarter as a coach, show a little more grit with this team.

I do know that J. Bates HAS GOT to go. That's a given.

That last play reiterates what I mean. 3rd down and 16 to go. What does our QB do? Throws a pass back to the line of scrimmage that has no hope of getting any more than a couple of yards. THAT'S a sitation where you throw the ball downfield and risk an INT. You got nothing to lose.

I think Bates deserves a shot with his kind of QB. Hass has never been a good fit for Bates' offense.

I have to disagree with you there. Bates SUCKS DONKEY-BALLS! He's an awful OC. I've been aghast so many times by how he's handled the offense no matter who the QB might have been. He stinks to high heaven. He will frustrate the hell out of us continuously in the future if he remains around.

I don't want him anywhere near a QB we might draft.

To quote Bart Simpson, this both sucks and blows. It's mind-boggling to me we're still alive in the playoff hunt. I know the NFC West has been down for years, but usually us or Arizona seemed like a legitimate representative in the playoffs... this year, WOW.
