So far all we have heard are "sources" saying he only wants to come here. The same sourceswhosaid LeBron was going to be a Bull and then a Knick. Or what about Cliff Lee? Everyone said the Yankees during the season. My point is nothing is definite. Melo wants his money too.

NYK You don't, but with the money we have available we can sign him out right or sign the missing the pieces. I agree we need one more player that strikes fear every night, every time he gets the ball. But can not over react and send more then needed. We need a backup pg and a defensive center capable of playing big minutes. If we have that we are a definite playoff team. Add mello to that we are a championship team. If we give up all our pieces and loose some flexibility to acquire those pieces then we are good really damn good but not great. everyone here and the team is pointed to great not good.

denver fan here. If the knicks really want carmelo they are gonna have to give us gallinari and fields. anything short of that is not likely to happen.

What do you think bout these 2 deals? In the first deal we get a draft pick and send it along in the 2nd deal.

We overpay in both, but it fills all our needs. I'd think long and hard about it, but probably pull the trigger.

What does money have to do with anything? If he goes into FA, he will get his money no matter what. No team can offer more than us, outside of Denver.

Come on GONYK, he is talking about the uncertainty of how much a max deal will be. Anywho, Melo has made it clear this will get resolved by the trade deadline at the latest so someone is getting him at that point. Hopefully it will be us.

I would also trade Fields if we received Afflalo in return. I just don't know why the Nuggets would do that, since it's basically a wash, albeit Fields might be slightly better right now (and slightly younger).

Here it is a bit cleaner as 3-team trade:

http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.ph ... id=5774710

Minnesota can send Utah's 2011 pick to Denver, and we can send a 2014 1st round pick.

Still it's going to be tough to pry Nene like that. I'd see if we can do something similar to get Camby.

Here's another option:

http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.ph ... id=5774723

^ There we get Melo, Harrington, and Ridnour, but we retain Chandler and Fields. We can then look to trade Chandler in the summer in a S&T, and it'll be slightly easier since it wouldn't be as tough to match contracts (although he'd be a BYC contract). We can try and get back picks for Wilson over the summer, or try and work a S&T for Camby.

the point here is you have money and young players plus we can get a draft pick. if this was going to happen for draft picks then they would have shipped him NJ but guess what. he does not want NJ bad enough. NY is not going to screw themselves to get him they can't.One of Chandler Fields Gallo + loosing Randolph for the pick and cash savings. NJ can offer picks that's it. favors is not as good yet (if he ever will be ) as any of the Knicks young players.
So why rush into trading Fields + another young player Plus loosing Randolph for a basic one horse race at this point. Denver is playing it slow fine Donnie can and should wait him out. Denver does or at least should not trade him to team he does not want to go to for the fact it will screw them over with other free agents.
Donnie needs to call them and say Chandler or Fields or Gallo and Pick plus money savings who is going to beat that. NJ can come close but the young player is not ready to play yet.
Orlando is out of the race now. Dallas does not want a rental. Really they are a few other teams but these are the main four competing for him.
Remeber we still need to have a bench back up center and pg. For that I look to the clippers for Deandre and maybe Foye if he is in play

The Nets are still interested in Melo. Watch out!

Nets Still Interested In Carmelo

Nets executives are still confident that they can put together the best package to acquire Carmelo Anthony from the Nuggets.

New Jersey has six expiring contracts and potentially five first-round picks in the next two seasons to use in trades.

Avery Johnson has preached patience, but heading into Sunday's game against Atlanta their record was so poor that some believe it could lead Anthony to decline a long-term extension if a trade is worked out.

The Nets will not acquire Anthony for a host of assets if they can't ensure they'll sign him to an immediate extension.

The irony is the Nets’ record may hurt their chances of convincing Anthony to sign an extension but improves their odds of making a deal with Denver.

Can we please get this guy like right now? With this current losing streak and how the Giants somehow lost that game, i'm about to go insane.

I don't think the Giants are in a position to acquire Melo
