Detroit @ Tampa Bay 1:00
The lions can beat tampa but it's all up to the QB ,Stanton or who ever plays that spot must cut down the INT's and complete passes in order to beat TB.I f the game gets away from the lions i would like to see Zac robinson in the 4th qtr to see what he can do.
Defence Wins Championships,we need to return to the Bad Boy era.

Re: Detroit @ Tampa Bay 1:00
Tampa has lost 7 starters to IR in the last three weeks, including their two best OL (Faine and Joseph), half their secondary (Talib and Grimm) and most recently Gerald McCoy, who could be gone for a real long time with a completely detached and severed biceps.
If the lines bring the physicality and Stanton avoids turnovers I really like the Lions here. Tampa has had great success winning close games but they are so banged up. Look at how awful they were against Washington yet they still won. They keep coming up with new and creative ways to win and that's sort of counter to the Lions. I'll be picking the Lions this week.

I was going to put this in the draft thread, but...
Going into the draft last year there was quite a bit of debate between Suh and McCoy. Doesn't that look fairly silly now? Suh has been dominant and will probably win defensive ROY while McCoy did look that great. I think it is safe to say we made the right pick

Yea but during all that debate virtually no information came out that made McCoy look favorable to Suh in any way. It was a hands down easy decision between the 2 guys and a debate wasn't asked for nor should there have been one. It's one thing if you were to say one guy had better stats but the other guy was a better athlete, but Suh had McCoy on virtually every comparison point because he was obviously the better football player and the better prospect to be good as a pro.

Well any time you predicate that the QB doesn't produce turnovers you are typically going to win. That's a big advantage also prepackaged with two physical lines. TB can't overcome 3 variables like that turning out in our favor.

The Lions played up their interest in McCoy to try and build trade value in case someone really wanted McCoy. They were hoping the Browns or Redskins would bite. And I can tell you for a fact the Redskins did prefer McCoy, at least their primary decision maker did. Sort of shows you why they are on the way down...
The injury McCoy got is severe. Complete detached biceps tendon and the muscle itself tore when it detached. That's minimum 6 months of absolutely no weight-bearing on the muscle, not even brushing his teeth with that arm. For a position where you can never have too much strength and effective use of hands and shoulders is paramount, this is a devastating injury. Good chance he spends the first 6 games next year on PUP and won't be real effective if/when he comes back in 2011. This is a very similar injury to the one that ended Tony Boselli's career. Let's hope that's not the case here. Even though he plays for another team I found McCoy to be a real good guy and a guy with a very strong NFL future and I hate to see guys ruined by injuries.

I like the Lions chances in this game, but it's because I think the Lions can compete with any team. I'm more worried about finishing strong. Our team doesn't seem to know how to win when it matters, especially with our 3rd string QB. Tampa Bay has injuries, but they still have their starting QB, so they have the edge for me. I'd love a win here, but I'm not expecting one.

Supposedly, Shaun Hill is throwing in practice and might start on Sunday. Schwartz hasn't decided yet. Let's hope he has a strong week with no pain. If Hill starts, I like our chances even more.

The Lions brought back a familiar face Thursday, claiming cornerback Eric King off waivers from Cleveland.
King, who played four games for Detroit last season, takes the roster spot vacated by injured right tackle Gosder Cherilus.

It amazes me that she thinks of TSE's posts as columns.

That's because all the Lions-related topics in the news appear to be comics; making my posts apparent as an elevation in logic to take things seriously and to arrive at a winning solution while everybody else is content with us being the joke.

The Bucs have a very young team, including two rookie receivers and a rookie running back -- LeGarrette Blount -- who started his year in Tennessee. After getting let go by the Titans, the Bucs picked him up and he's responded with 667 yards, averaging 4.5 yards per carry and has scored five touchdowns.
The lion scounld have had Legarrette Blount but they passed on him.
Blont is destroying the lions today!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Detroit @ Tampa Bay 1:00
wow
I mean what a game. Stanton leading the crazy late comeback, the CJ catch on the sideline, the FGs to tie and win...damn. Snaps the road losing streak and really gives the team confidence.
CJ was awesome today. Turns out we should throw to him once in a while

It's fun playing with Stanton, we should have been doing that all year and with Blount on our team too. It could have been a fun season with a productive and encouraging result.

Yep just another example of why a guy like Mayhew should never be allowed to have a job like this. You can't miss easy pickings like that, that's what the system is there for, to help crappy teams get better by taking advantage of lopsided rules in their favor. Mayhew really let us down for many years to come with how bad he has managed everything so far.

Very VERY impressive win. Let's hope our team doesn't get content and goes into Miami where the Dolphins are struggling and do the same. 6-10 anyone?

Re: Detroit @ Tampa Bay 1:00
On Blount:
He was cut from TEN because he couldn't pass protect and because he didn't offer anything they didn't already have. He had a lot of trouble with that during Senior Bowl week too, plus he has the personal baggage of being a thuggish malcontent. He wound up on Tampa only because they owed his agent (his new agent, his old one dropped him) a favor. To Blount's credit he seized the opportunity, though his pass protection is still awful. Not sure I want Matt Stafford (or any QBs) well-being on his shoulders.
What about Mo Morris having a great day? Does that count for nothing? He's a guy that Mayhew scraped up for next to nothing and has been a very nice piece. Bobby Carpenter, same thing, and he had a strong game. I guess that doesn't count
