So the Suns made a big trade...

Post#1 » by MaryvalesFinest » Sun Dec 19, 2010 10:39 pm

Well I'm back...Been a tough semester of classes so I haven't been on in ages, Not that anyone missed me or anything so I'll just throw out a few points and you can agree or disagree

Well where to start?

The Turkoglu trade (the first one) looks to have been a panic move. I don't blame him one bit for anything that happened considering the guy gave up money to come here. It was clear though after the first few games it just wasn't going to work out. I'm surprised they were able to find a taker but than again he thrived in that system and it was worth a gameble for them.

So the Suns got...

Gorat, who already the Suns best center since Mark West in my POV (I know people will disagree but I still think Lopez is a bust and I know Shaq was on this team but that was like a rental basically). If this guy gets around 30 minutes per game I wouldn't be surprised if he averages a double-double. He's not going to be an all-star but he will rebound and play defense, when was the last time a Suns center did that?

Carter, I'm not sure why people think J-Rich is better, sure he's younger but even though Carter isn't the guy he once was he's probably still going in the HOF considering he's almost at 20k career points. Anyway he will do well in this system, at worst he takes J-Rich's place. Chances are they arn't going to bring him back but if he can turn his career around, who knows? Maybe they can re-sign him at a cheaper rate.

Peitrus, Suns got a solid wing defender, along with Hill they have two players that are solid defenders now.

Also a first round pick which is nice...

I'd give this trade an A+ considering I thought it would take picks to trade Turkoglu...

This is not worthy of a new thread...

Suns make a big trade and all of a sudden you come back? Sounds like a cry for attention.

Welcome back I guess, I know I didn't miss you.

I'm warming up to the trade, I like it a lot actually. Gortat is gonna be great, I'm a little disappointed that we'll probably end up scrapping Robin or at least him riding the pine but Gortat is better at this stage.

I'll be interested to see what VC can do I agree he could be really good here. He could also be mediocre at some things like running the break.

Pietrus I'm more excited than a lot of people about. He'll probably be our best or second best perimeter defender and he can hit the 3.

Why would you lock that n00bs thread that was the same as this, and not lock this one? MVF can take his cry for attention to the HUGE thread devoted to this.

I'm sure he would be less happy about you calling him a noob than me locking the thread...to humor you

-it had no substance, just one phrase in the OP.
-he'd started a Barbs thread the day before that was similar.

I still encourage him to create threads I just didn't think the one today had enough substance to warrant a new thread, it was more of a reply.

I'm leaving for the day, I'll be back tomorrow to make a new thread about the trade. With more than one phrase...

It'll be my triumphant return thread!

Back to the topic, it is a good trade, and puts the Suns in a position where they aren't desperate for any kind of trades really. So now, it feels like the Suns will have any upper hand if any GM's make a call.

Not sure about that man, on ESPN they were talking about how they desperately wanted to trade Childress, let's hope they don't have to give up draft picks just to trade his salary...

I do hope the FO has learned. After all, we were the ones receiving a pick in this trade, and if the rebuild has really begun, it could be an important one. I'd be surprised if their weren't any takers for childress, straight up. He's athletic, has great wingspan and I feel he could contribute on any team defensively right away.

good to see you again.
