Yea I don't understand the Hedo hate, let's see him play a few games before jumping to conclusions. He knows how to get the ball to Dwight which we have been lacking this season.

I think Hedo is overpaid, but here's how I compare it...
Which combination is better?
QRich at SF/Lewis at PF
Lewis at SF/Bass at PF
Turkoglu at SF/Bass at PF
Personally, factoring their play this season and their contracts into the equation, I would say Hedo/Bass is the best 3/4 combo for this team.
Bass has played quite at bit better than Rashard did for the Magic this season at PF and Hedo is an upgrade at the 3 compared to QRich as well.

I`ve heard from Suns fans that Turkoglu has been hitting alot of shots. He just wasn`t given the ball to operate and create.
So if Turkoglu works as a Lewis. He`d average Rashard`s stats on much less shots.
Hedo has been relatively healthy for the past 5 seasons, I don`t think his skills are gone, he sucked in Toronto because he came into training camp fat and now he`s fit and in shape.
What now? Does Stan Van use him like he used him back in 07-09? Does Stan make him play like Rashard?
Going to be very interesting.
EDIT:
Turkoglu and Bass at the 3 and 4 is the best combo.
Turkoglu is a MUCH, MUCH better passer than Quentin and he`ll be able to feed Dwight in good spots.

Re: Official: Arenas/Hedo/Jrich takin talents to central FLORIDA
Hedo doesn't need to play like Rashard because he can handle the ball and make plays. He will give us variety, Meer won't have to do it all every time up, neither will Gil.
When Meer and Gil are out there together Hedo will probably have a Lewis like role as his ball handling won't be needed, but when one of them is resting he will be able to bring a little of the old turkey dance out.
If you look at the deal as a Vince for Arenas, Lewis for Hedo deal (and cross your fingers that Arenas doesn't take a crap in Dwight's shoe), then I think production wise its close to a wash as far as on court productivity given the potential in SVG's system... VC and Arenas both have health concerns, and Lewis and Hedo both have underperformed after getting fat contracts.
Then you're looking at Gortat + MP + 1st for JRich as the rest of the deal... and Malik Allen aside, gotta like that.

I think that`s exactly how the front office saw it as.

Jameer and Arenas in the backcourt together is what it sounds like when doves cry.

I also look at is as the Magic managed to acquire another player without having to give up anything extra. That is, by trading away Rashard Lewis, we regained the services of Ryan Anderson, who hasn't been getting any PT recently (injury aside). He's pretty much a younger, quicker, whiter version of Rashard who rebounds and attacks the basket more but has less of a post-up game. At this point there isn't much of a drop-off in talent between Rashard and Ryno, so we can treat them almost as the same player-- only there's no obligation to start Ryno because he's not making $118 million.
I think the return of Ryan Anderson to the rotation in a back-up role is a highly underrated aspect of all this recent player movement. Instead of him rotting on the bench, he'll have a defined role on this team and when played alongside Hedo, can spread the floor and create the mismatches we had in the frontcourt like we had the year we made it to the Finals.

Also...we don't have to play Duhon anymore. We now have the (arguably, I guess) best back-up point guard in the entire NBA with Arenas. We gain more production at the 4 and more at the back-up 1.

One thing I disagree with is some people are saying J-Rich will make the biggest impact on the team. I think Gil will make a huge impact. He is now the closer as well as our go to guy. Not to mention he's happy and motivated for the first time in years.

Thats what I REALLY like about Arenas.
Nelson plays his usual 28 minutes, while the other 20 minutes i`m hoping Arenas takes them all. Gilbert can just play 12 minutes at the 2 guard, so he`ll have enough. And then you`ll have JJ with 18 minutes, which can leave 18 to J-Rich at the 2 and he gets some at the 3.

Why is everyone bitching about losing JRich? We have a Championship to win this season before we worry about that.

maybe, 2 teams were dumb enough to trade for himjk
Toronto regretted the decision and dumped him the first chance they got. Phoenix did the same. If this is where Hedo plays his contract out, I am going to be very disappointed.
I didn't want to pay him the money either, mainly because we already had Shard. He's overpaid for sure, but he's coming back to us in a backup sf role. Think of it as what we were paying for Gortat. Too much for a backup player, but I'm betting we will get more production for that money now. Otis, Gil, and JR are having a little love fest though, I'm definitely betting that J-Rich resigns with us. Its not quite what Miami did, but we got our big three together finally, lol. Too bad it wasn't live on ESPN.

Re: Official: Arenas/Hedo/Jrich takin talents to central FLORIDA
PG Gilbert Arenas - Killer instinct, excellent isolation player, underrated defender and passer. Will single handedly change the dynamics of this team. His addition will be bigger than most are trying to be overly cautious about. As long as he's healthy, this team has the makings of a legit contender again. He'll come off the bench initially, but I expect that to change by the playoffs.
Jameer Nelson - Whoever starts at PG, should eventually turn out to be insignificant. The minutes will come. Nelson's best attribute is scoring and he can be the spark plug off the bench for instant offense.
Duhon/Williams - Duhon was a mistake from the beginning. Unless we can figure out how to get rid of him, he will be a pill to live with.
----------------------
SG Jason Richardson - Many are saying that he was the best player acquired yesterday. I disagree, but he does play well off the ball... something this new team will greatly rely on. I love his acquisition because we got rid of 3 guys who turned into chuckers in Carter, Pietrus and Lewis, and brought in a pure shooter, the likes of Ray Allen. JRich is shooting over 40% from 3 this season so that excites me. I expect him to get some rotation time at SF too.
JJ Redick - His role diminishes because Arenas will surely get PT at SG. He got paid a lot of money during the offseason, and probably thought his role would increase. Once his trade restrictions are removed, I would assume he becomes a frequent subject on rumor mill.
----------------------
SF Hedo Turkoglu - Bringin' back the Pick 'n Roll. The ball movement hopefully improves with Hedo back in town. SVG will have the ability to be as creative as he wants with 3 players who can now bring the ball up court. He won't be counted on as heavily as he was when he left here, but he's getting paid what he wants for the team he wants. Game is said to be declining, but I think a revival is in store for him. All he needs to be is an effective facilitator and score off key opportunities.
Quentin Richardson - QRich has limited his game to being a 3 point bomber. If he's not hitting 3s, then he rarely shows up on the scoresheet. At this point, he's just an Eddie House type player... but since he rebounds, I'll give him a little bit more credit and say he's a non-clutch Robert Horry. Really wish we hadn't given him a 4 year contract. Sadly, I like his fiery attitude more than his game.
----------------------
PF Brandon Bass - No person is more happy on the team than Bass. Now knowing that Lewis will not take PT away from him. He's the perfect clean up guy, that can make things happen through his sheer grit and hustle.
Ryan Anderson - Anderson is also smiling a little more as the picture becomes clearer for him to share time with Bass. With Anderson, SVG can still stretch the floor for Dwight when the call is made to go 4 outside, 1 inside. I'll take what Anderson provides at $1.4M a year than what Lewis provided at $20M a year. Man, I'm still thrilled that we were able to dump that contract.
Earl Clark - Who says we mortgaged our future by giving up a 1st rounder in 2011? Clark is better than anyone we would've gotten at that pick. He's got a lot of refining to do to his game, but the talent is there for him to be a solid player in this league. He's gotta work hard. If he does that, he could earn an extension.
----------------------
C Dwight Howard - His progression should continue with the new cast. Having Hedo there to run PnR plays for him is one thing... having JRich out there to kick out passes to is another... but having Arenas as the playmaker is going to take his game to another level. That is my prediction. The way Arenas attacks on offense draws so much attention, that Dwight will often find himself looking for easy ways to finish once Arenas finds him. I have a good feeling about Gilbert...that once he finds his role and becomes used to his teammates, he'll be what we wanted Vince to be.
There is a depth concern here that should be addressed soon, but I don't see it as a big problem yet.
I ain't scared of the Celtics or Heat now. I can honestly say that... naive? maybe. Confident? Yes. Thank you Otis.
