Re: Trade Exeception Question
Means we can trade for a player that earns that number or less, without sending a player in return and in disregard to being over the cap.
We have 1 calender year to use these or we lose it.

Let me know if I have this right... so technically we can use it at this very moment (up til one year from acquirement)... Soooo let's just say, Otis is looking for a backup big (obviously), can he package the trade exception with someone like Duhon in a trade?

You can't package the exception with a player. So basically you trade the exception for a player to a team looking for cap relief.

Re: Trade Exeception Question
If true, I assume Orlando could trade for a backup center with nothing in return. Hmm..

Well, two trades can be coupled. So, Orlando could add Duhon and the TE for two players in return. But the moneys must match for each trade separately. This kind of bundled trade is pretty common.

Okay I know they can't be packaged with a player, but can they be packaged together? Gortat's TPE and Lewis' TPE for player x?
I mean, most likely we will just let them expire...

They can't be combined no, they are two separate exceptions.

We should use the TPE to acquire a big. Tony Battie would be ideal! I would love to have him on this team again. We know what he brings to the table, he is tough, physical, and kind of fills that mentor level to Howard, Bass, and Clark. Clark may be a good power forward, but Tony just seems like a solid vet who could be a serviceable player on a championship team.

totally agree. Tony is also someone that can fill in in a pinch at PF if needed. I would love to see Tony, and then some thick, good rebounding D-Leaguer, someone who is hungry and wont be afraid to get in there and mix it up.

If Orlando could get a Battie-type for "nothing," then it's only Mr Amway's money. Heck, why not???

I wouldn't mind adding Battie. Anyone remember that game against Philly where he went off for like 20 pts lol?
