How is Okur doing?

Post#1 » by FJS » Sun Dec 19, 2010 7:59 pm

I have not seen last couple of games, so I don't know how Okur is doing. I saw box score, so I know the min he played and the points, but my question is how he looks, if he can run and move like before, if he loos out of shape and so.

So so. He isn't in rhythm but he moves the same as he always has it seems.

Yeah, I am very excited about the way he has been playing actually. While he hasn't been able to shoot it much, and his timing is off for some other things, but athletically he looks just fine. I don't see any reason why he won't be a 20+ minute a night guy again, and with his skills he really adds to our line up. We become much better shooting the three, he opens up the middle for everyone else on the team, and he's a big body to help when Millsap and Jeff struggle.

I'm really happy he is back.

He looks good, just needs to get into a good groove that can only be solved by getting minutes. He doesn't look like he has lost a step at all. Slow before the injury, still slow, but doesn't appear to be any slower.

I am really impressed with him.

The guy is in amazing shape, he looks as lean as he's ever been. That's saying a lot when he hasn't been able to really move on his ankle for 6 months, and have very limited movement for the next 2 months.

He's worked extremely hard to stay in shape and because of this, should have little problem adjusting as his minutes progressively go up.

He had a nice, athletic move beating his man to the basket on Friday and drilled his first 3 pointer on Saturday; I think he's going to be great.

Agreed. This is proof that Memo possesses an incredible work ethic. I think he may help push Al in the direction we need to see him go, both in practices and in games. I can't wait to see him draining multiple threes per game again!

suprisedly moving like he use to. He looks a little tenative on the court passing on shots and drives. He should be helpful off the bench be his old self in a couple of weeks.

He's doing really well actually for a guy who hasn't played as long as he has. He hit a long 3 randomly (huge flashback of him hitting 3's..). He should eat up most of Fesenko's/Fransico minutes sadly :(

He's also making Bell  look worthless in the shooting department if he keeps that up. Least he hit a 3...

*side note* we're overloaded roster wise and over the cap..I'm worried that KOC is shopping right now on a 2 for one or future pick deal. Many other teams are looking to change things up.. I have no doubt the phone is ringing in the front office.. :-?

There was a football player (that no longer plays) on the radio the other night 1280 after the BYU bowl game, didn't catch his name... he confused the heck out of me. He said that he had the exact same injury as Okur two weeks after Okur's. He said that he was running 5 miles a day every day of the week over two months ago. He said he was shocked that Okur didn't comeback sooner. I was thinking that everybody thought he would be out the entire year or no sooner than All-Star break. He then continued to say that he was speaking to the team doctor at Dixie and another Southern Utah football teams. He said that both specialist said that the injury isn't a season ending injury but a career ending injury. So he said don't expect Okur to comeback and be the same.

Yeah, I don't know what the point of the rambling was other than I was really confused by the radio guy. It sounds like anything that we can get out of Okur will be a great thing.

Those guys on 1280 dont know ****........

I am a bit on the pessimistic side of memo right now, against MIL I felt he forced a few shots and didnt swing the ball on what wouldve been open looks. He does appear to be as muscular as ever (besides the leg) I hope he can work his way in and take AK's minutes at the 4.

I hope KOC is shopping for a 2 guard. To me, Fesenko, Haywood, bell, price should be made available to get one.

What kind of 2 guard are you really going to get with those four? A terrible back up center, a rookie that has looked awful so far, an over the hill guard that is cheap but probably overpaid, and a second/third string under sized player...

Maybe we could get that Matthews kid from Portland.

Okay but they aren't going to trade him for any combo of those four.

Game recap says he sprained his ankle in warmups tonight. Any word on how bad it was?
In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.
