Will Jazz figure out how to play in first half?

Post#1 » by jazzfan1971 » Sat Dec 18, 2010 4:38 am

I'm starting to think we may need a lineup change. Maybe when Okur comes back that'll be the change that kicks that first unit in the rear. But, maybe we need something else. Maybe Ronnie Price starts at the 2.

Sloan is being very steady with the starters. I guess he doesn't want to lose faith in his folks, but, it sure seems to me that other rotations are more effective. It'd sure be nice to start off a game or two with a good start.

I'm hoping Okur will help fix things.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

I really don't like the idea of having Ronnie P starting at the 2 guard spot. He definitely brings needed intensity but prefer him coming in with Watson. I'd much rather see CJ starting and going with a bigger lineup and maybe bring Paul off the bench when Memo is 100% healthy. You are right though I think this team is in need of a lineup change.

Memo may not be back to old self all year. You cant count on him this year getting any significant minutes. A lineup change is necessary maybe starting CJ over AK-47 to get some offense earlier in the game.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

I think Deron needs to switch up the way he plays. He usually likes to spend the first quarter setting up teammates and getting everyone involved.

Instead I think he needs to be more assertive and aggressive to score the ball. The other guys on our team seem to play with more confidence and get better looks when Deron is scoring the ball at the rim.

I'm actually kind of on board with trying CJ over AK. I know CJ gives us (sometimes) a great boost off the bench, but I think AK can do alright, since he passes more often and better than CJ, he may open up things for Memo or Francisco (Francisco! That's fun to say! Francisco... Frannncisco... Franciscooo...). I think it's worth a shot, maybe against one of these lesser opponents we play in the next 2 games.

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...

I think it's a chemistry issue still. We learn during the game how to beat teams, which is why we have had so many come backs, but we don't have a game plan that is winning us games by itself.

We'll, our starting lineup is is third worst unit statistically according to basketballvalue.com

I think the problem is partly Raja. Out of14 total lineups with enough data to qualify, no lineup with Raja makes the top 6. You have to take these stats with a grain of salt because it has, for example, our bench being the third most productive unit, which may be true in limited instances but certainly not over a season.

Still, the general trend has Raja not being part of any effective lineup, and generally the most effective lineups featuring shooters at the 2 or 3. I think the lack of a SG on this team is pretty evident by the fact that our most productive lineup has dwill at the 2.

We just miss so many damn shots in every 1st quarter, I think it's my best guess.
