Best Nets Beat Writers

Post#1 » by netsfanbq » Wed Dec 15, 2010 10:52 pm

I used to read Dave D'Allessandro (sp?) all the time, but with him gone, who is the most reliable writer who currently has the pulse of the team? Al would also be high on my list.

Thoughts on Kerber/Bondy/Stephenson?
Walk away from this ASAP.

I didn't even realize Dave D was gone. He used to be great but then he turned into a bitter old man and I stopped reading most of his articles.

I like Al Iannazzone, Gary Sussman and Fred Kerber.

Al and Gary seem good but Kerber just seems like an ass sometimes. I think he's a Knicks fan.

I'm a big fan of Al, Colin and Fred.

I also like ESPN New York.com's Mike Mazzeo/Jared Zwerling ... although it doesn't seem like they travel with the team.

Netsdaily.com is pretty sweet as far as being able to see everyone's work and they do a really nice job as well.

For a team that is headed to Brooklyn in a couple years, there's certainly a lot of media coverage around this team -- a lot of different places to get news and that's pretty amazing to see.

Al tells the truth, Kerber is entertainment, and Sussman is good for when I get tired of Sudoku puzzles.

Pistons fan here, and I just read a comment on a Pistons message board that said Rip, Stuckey, and Summers were traded to the Nets for Murphy and Farmar. I cant find anything on this anywhere, and just wondered if any of your beat writers have reported on this going down, or if it even a real rumor of a deal that could be in the works.

Again, it was just a commenton a message board, sp I'm not saying its true, just trying to find out for myself if it is or not?

I'm actually totally for that deal if it went down.

However, I need a link. I haven't been able to find a thing. I'll be a doubting Thomas until then.

But I won't hate on you Todd3. You came here with good intentions. Thanks for the info even if it turns out to be false.

prelude -

Here's the site I saw it posted, its comment #30 down near the bottom of the page, posted by someone named "Jason". I'm jk281, so its not just me making a rumor as "Jason" trying to get attention or something. Patrick runs the site, which is espn affiliated, and we both are questioning this guy to see if its true or not.

I normally wouldn't jump to conclusions over one statement posted by a random fan, but with Stuckey and Rip both missing last nights game due to sudden and "mysterious" injuries, and a lot of talk lately from Dumars about being close to a deal, it seems more believable than usual.

But I haven't found even a peep about it anywhere online, so I'm also doubting Thomas until I see something from a credible source, which is why I thought I'd check here.

Didn't mean to get anyone excited. I would lean heavily toward it being nothing, but it does work in the trade checker and makes some sense for both sides, so I'm going to keep looking for something, and I'll post back if I find anything. Thanks

Keep us posted on your detective work.

However, I'm gonna say it probably didn't happen. If they were inactive last night due to the deal being very close to completion, I think something would have leaked by now. That's just me.

But still, I appreciate what you're doing to hash out the reality of the issue.

^

Why, vc4p and SG?

True, Rip is an albatross contract, but I think he would be great for two people: Avery Johnson and Carmelo Anthony. The lil' General would probably relish having a championship-caliber starting SG like Hamilton, and I get the feeling that we are an established veteran semi-star SG or PF away from Melo finding us more attractive. Is it all hopeless hope? Maybe, but a man can dream, can't he?

Oh please, Rip has fallen off a cliff. He's a shell of his former self. Carmelo Anthony and other stars are not lining up to play with this guy, he's toast. We might as well have kept Vince or got involved in the most recent trade if that was the case.

Stuckey sucks too. He makes Devin look like Steve Kerr as a shooter and Steve Nash as a distributor. He might be able to play a decent role as a 6xth man on a stacked squad, but that's his ceiling IMO.

Hell no to this trade. The only way I want Rip is if Outlaw is part of the outgoing package.

BTW< I haven't seen anything official about this either. Maybe they are trying to roll this into the Anthony deal? Imagine this lineup:

Harris, Hamilton, Anthony, Humphries, Lopez
Stuckey, Morrow, James, Andersen, Petro

I'm imagining it. That lineup is pretty meh. 5th best in the East at best.

I'm pretty sure the Pistons fans finally got the kid to admit it was BS so no need to worry anyone.

It definitely was reported that we made an inquiry about Rip this past offseason so I wasn't really surprised if it happened. I've been thinking that if we're serious about Melo, I could see us pulling a deal for a "name" player that we wouldn't have to give up a lot for and is locked up for a few years to entice Melo if we struck a deal with Denver.

Oh well. I'm gonna go back to being a hermit and just stalk the board. Everyone take care!
