Just got a gut feeling something happens tonight. Maybe not a Melo deal but the Knicks do something tonight. Gut feeling. -Jitpal

"This situation will be resolved by the trade deadline."

So really, he said nothing conclusive. That was also said before he specified NY to Denver management, right?

IDK. It seems like a good night to take a nap.

@GONYK: My memory is foggy, but I think it was right around that time. Anyway, I know it's not a public ultimatum, but that comment, along with this comment, lends more support for Anthony not exploring free agency. That's all I'm saying. Our leverage hasn't positively slipped, but that could be the case.

Justdatdude wrote:Carmelo said before that he doesn't mind going into the offseason as a free agent and he knows the risk he's taking by doing that. The guy is set for life, without his NBA contract. People are making to big of a deal out of this. All he said was if he's traded, he's signing an extension with that team and he doubts he get traded to a team he doesn't want to go to.

I don't see him getting traded at all. This is Denver's best team by far since he been there and it doesn't make sense to trade him for scrap, just to say that they received something from him. That doesn't make sense. They will be better off finishing the season with him then doing some type of sign and trade deal like Miami and Toronto did just to get a pick. Gallinari, Fields, and Chandler for Carmelo isn't a good trade for Denver at all. Fields will be expiring the next season, Chandler said he doesn't want to play in Denver, and Gallo simply isn't that good.

I say New York and Denver finish the season without a trade for Melo and Carmelo will do whatever he does in the offseason. The man isn't going to the Nets just to switch teams. Don't the Nets have to play 1 more season after this one to move to Brooklyn? If Carmelo really wanted to go to Jersey, he'll accept his player option, then go the Nets via free agency following that season. There is no reason for Knicks fans to began to panic when it comes to Carmelo.

How do you know what Donnie has and has not offered? What if he already has offered all 3, and Denver is still just playing with themselves for no reason?

Speaking of Sheridan, this is what he had to say regarding the new developments:

bill (boston)

Hi Chris, All the conventional wisdom (so to speak) has Melo eventually accepting his fate as an NJ Net. This obviously goes against what you reported. Are you still sure he only signs with NYK?

Chris Sheridan
(2:35 PM)

The Nets still think they can get in his ear and convince him to sign the extension with them, and though I'm sure M.Prokhorov and Jay-Z can make a strong pitch (and B.King can make the best offer), I still give them and the other 27 teams only a 5 percent chance of getting 'Melo. I've still got it at Knicks, 75 percent; Nuggets, 20 percent; rest of NBA: 5 percent.

So nothing new.

Jay-Z scares me though. He'll lure Carmelo to the Nets by tempting him with the dark pleasures that await Illuminati members. Walsh will just offer him a part on the Mike D'Antoni show.

We can't compete.

Lebron was already a member of the Illuminati. So Jay-Z had nothing to give Lebron which he didn't already have. It's all about leverage.

Guys, if there is no way he leaves 65 mil on the table then why would Denver trade him?

Denver's trading him because they don't wanna get LeBron'd or Bosh'd.

Lupica is on the Melo train, interesting take:

"You imagine at the same time what the Knicks would be like if people had to guard Amar'e and Carmelo and Everybody Loves Raymond Felton. And then you think about what that team is like if Donnie Walsh goes and gets them the defensive-minded, rebounding big you know he eventually will."
