J-Rich's One-On-One scoring ability?
Magic fan here. I know Jason Richardson is a good off-ball scorer, and that he can post smaller guards, and that he has a bad handle, but what is his overall scoring ability? What happens when J-Rich gets the ball and calls for a clear-out? Can he produce in isolation if he gets forced into that sitaution?
Remember when Kobe elbowed Jameer in the chin so hard Jameer was knocked down and sent skidding across the floor?

Not very good. He doesn't isolate very much, but when he does his only moves are dribbling straight towards the basket with one hand or a step back jumper that always seems to miss.
His main offensive weakness is when he has to try score by himself. He can dominate smaller players in the post though.

Pretty much.
I always cursed when he took those off balance shots off the dibble...but he's not terribly bad at it either.

Yeah, his one on one skills are pretty poor. His entire repertoire on the perimeter is basically a one or two dribble pull up otherwise it's just a mad slash to the basket. He has passable handles but nothing special so he'll take care of the ball OK if he isn't doing anything but he is prone to turnovers when he's forcing things offensively. His post game is a little overrated imo. He is a pretty strong guard so he'll have that advantage but he doesn't really have any really nice spin moves or anything. But he does well in moving without the ball so you'll find that when he is looking for the post up, he'll set himself up so that he'll get the mismatch.
But yeah, he's primarily an off-ball scorer. I really don't like to see the ball in his hands when the play breaks down and he's forced to create.

Agreed, yeah he's not great at creating his own opportunities.

posting up is his only way of creating his own shot, and he's very very good at it. Good thing you've got lots of scoring going on

before this trade i could have sworn most magic fans were saying j-rich was better than VC in creating his own offense....richardson moves well without the ball but its gotta be in the right system for him to be effective

I'm afraid you're probably going to get the same old thing -- the Post-Nash Drop.
I think Amare's the only one who hasn't really done that, but then, he's pretty much the only player who left and actually became The Superstar on the new team.

Jrich has become very effective at coming off screens. He can't make plays on the fly.
