I traded Javale McGee for John Salmons. Thoughts?

Post#1 » by Imadogg » Tue Dec 21, 2010 10:45 pm

Heyoo, wondering what you guys think about this trade. I'm in a 12 team league, h2h 9-cat.

I'm 2nd place in the league (1GB) and this was my team as of today:
Felton/Gibson/Bibby
Evans/CDR/Fields
Lebron/Granger/Webster
Wilson Chandler/Nene
McGee/Marc Gasol

I don't know if I did the right thing but I'm afraid of Lewis' minutes cutting into McGee's, who already hasn't been as good recently as he was a few weeks back, and I'm hoping Salmons keeps improving as the year goes on. I made this move and then dropped CDR for Gortat.

Good plan?

why would you need Salmons as you have LBJ and Granger around.

You need McGee's blk.. Marc Gasol won't be sufficient enough to help you win BLK

Well I know I'm taking a risk here. On the year, Nene and Granger get 1blk, Chandler and Gasol get a block and a half. McGee was getting 2.5 but I did this thinking about him getting less playing time with Lewis there, along with Gortat getting a lot more (and hopefully becoming a starter). Gortat was getting about a block in only 15min.

I don't know but I'll see how it goes.

Not too sure how Lewis can significantly cut through McGee's minutes. Lewis might make Thorton, Yi and JHow irrelevant but McGee would be fine. Plus, McGee doesn't really need big minutes to be a productive fantasy commodity.

Yea, McGee has been very consistent with the blocks, but points of course have been hard to come by, but recently even rebounds have been all over the place (reached 10 4 times this month)... and he's a knucklehead so that might limit his minutes. I hope Yi is back to make me feel better about this.

Gortat had 4pt/4reb in his first game ever with a new team, played just under 20min so it's looking like he will get time for sure (obviously). Still looking forward to seeing what he has

Im a bucks fan and Salmons is available in my league but I'm not touching him..he dosnt contribut a whole lot ATM apart from reasonable points but it's at a bad cost to fg%..
