Quick thought...PHX/ DEN VC, #1 for KMART, Aflallo

Anyone think it might be interesting if we are not interested in keeping VC to maybe ship him to DEN, so they can have a shot at keeping Melo longer by pushing hard for doing noise in the playoffs. KMart is still an expiring and coming off of surgery, but his tenacious defense and athleticism would be a great addition.

If the deal with the Nets goes through maybe look at a straight up Martin/ Carter swap...maybe. PHX may have better opportunities out there for further swaps, but it is a thought.

I like Affalo, but nothing else. Btw. after the last two games Lopez has played, he definitely dosen't belong on the bench. Shouldn't this be in the trade thread...........

JMAC, Lopez has looked good, but we will need balance if we add depth. I wouldcertainly be open for a change to the lineup, but I thought with the other guys we had on the bench that RoLo's ofense could be used there more.

Also, this was contingent on the Suns not wanting to keep VC. I would like to see how he plays for a couple of games. There is no denying Martin's defense, tenacity and swagger, and the way he plays with a chip on his shoulder could add some significant toughness to our team. He has heart and emotion when he plays.

As far a sending this to the trade thread, I am not a fan of never ending trade threads. Posted trades get lost in other comments or the threads get hijacked by a different thought. Merge if you want to, but that is why I posted it separately.

Has to be done after 2 months, to package someone with VC, but the #s work

New Jersey gets Melo

Denver gets VC, Favors and Lopez

Phnx gets Nene and Murphy.

Like I said in the huge thread about the trade, and going off what Ray Ray has said about Denver being BIG after VC and his expiring contract, as well as the Suns wanting Nene, there is a possibility that the Suns will be involved as a 3rd team facilitator for a Melo deal. NJ has the most assets and wants, according to rumors around here and other sites, that wants Melo and thinks they can convince him to sign long term. willing to "rent" him for the rest of the year, where the Suns can help facilitate a deal and get Nene from Denver or Smith from Atlanta. Only the Feb 18 trade deadline may tell the story, since we can't deal VC (Pietrus or Gortat either) till then.

According to Y! Melo will extend with a team that can surround him with talent. Suns can do that and give Denver what it needs: Defense.

Denver sends Melo $17.1 and Harrington $5.7 for:

JChill $6.5
MP $5.3
Dudley $2.1
Collins S&T (salary dump for Nuggets)
2 First Rounders

Melo gets surrounded by Nash, Hill, Gortat, RoLo, Vince Carter and Harrington.

I'm in too. I'd like to sign him to some sort of reasonably priced veterans contract this summer. If he doesn;t agree and gets a better deal then he can walk.

Got you, but Lopez is a starter. Don't forget he is 22 and only in his second year. in 3 yrs he'll be only 25 in three yrs?!! I think Lopez could be an effective scorer. Let Gortat be the Ben Wallace, D Rodman, C Oakley type and our frontline could be solidfied. Why trade for an over the hill guy who is injured more than Lopez and wayyyy older? I'll pass.

Nothing wrong with the suggestion though.

Hell to the no! Murphy and Nene are too old. If we can get those guys for a wing and a pick to run with Steve cool, but not at the expense of giving up Lopez. Gortat hasn't even played yet, dude could look like Barron on O!!

Suns can get WAYYYY more than that for VC's expiring. Especially if helping another team to get Melo.

Not from these two teams. Denver's not also going to give up Nene and there are no other bigs worth mentioning on NY. Not that Randolph is worth mentioning. He's overhyped but at least he's young and can somewhat fit.

I'd rather not get Randolph. I'd rather have Murphy, or have some other team jump in the fray so we can help facilitate and get a big guy from them.
