Carter out for Heat game (knee swelling)

Post#1 » by Mr. Sun » Wed Dec 22, 2010 1:11 am

Whether Vince Carter has knee surgery or not, the new Suns guard appears he is not ready to play Thursday against Miami.

Carter was learning plays and teammates at US Airways Center on Tuesday, a day the Suns practiced for the new guys. Carter was slated to see a doctor later about his left knee. He said swelling has returned after he injured it and had "excruciating" pain Nov. 22, causing him to miss the ensuing three games.

"It still bothered me," Carter said. "I just tried to keep playing, being hard-headed and not listening to your body. There's been some swelling. The day of the trade is when I told them (Orlando) I wanted to get a MRI."

No biggie. We would probably have chemistry issues if he played anyway. We have plenty of guys to guard Lebron and Wade.

Coro:

"Vince Carter will not have his knee scoped. He will get treatment and rest, likely sitting out at least Thursday's game. "

chance for Duds to build on his big night.

Wade might be too fast for him to guard though

well at least it seems that he won't need to have surgery. Let Carter rest the knee a bit, and then we'll evaluate him against Philly? (That's after the heat game right. I think I called that game. :))

Thanks for posting those pics!

VC did look out of shape last season, but he came this season as the most fit he's been in a long time. Still looks like it with Phoenix.

Maybe there's a chance he'll be ready to go on thursday? hopefully!

See, I don't like this. To me, that's putting it off. Especially with something like the knee the problem is gonna compound the longer he uses it.

Now I won't claim to know what his particular injury is or to have any type of medical background but still, it sounds like one of those cases where the athlete puts it off and then has to have a more serious operation.

Either way, to me it sounded like VC got here, our trainers got a history from him and checked it out, and identified something the ORL staff did not. But then it's like this is saying, well it's too important to try to get you worked into the lineup so let's hold off on this.

I tend to disagree. Orlando did some tests, came back saying it was a just sprained. He sat out 3 days, then felt better till he re-aggravated it again. He just needs time to rest it. I think the report of him needing surgery was probably premature, and am questioning the source of that info. So let me get this straight, :

1. Orlando says he has a sprained knee.
2. Carter comes here and there is a small blurb in a Coro article saying he might need surgery.
3. Suns trainers saying he is fine and just needs to rest/rehab it.

Ok, yeah..... My money is on Orlando was right, Suns trainers agree, and Coro got some bad info somewhere about the surgery.

In before Magic fans come in saying "Vince faked the swelling to avoid playing an elite team"

Even as bad as they are I can't believe some people want Leinart back, they act like he would have been a savior

Anyway here's hoping to Newton or Mallet in the draft :D

I'd rather trade for Kolb or sign McNeezy but i do like Newton, not so much Mallett. Sorry to go off topic although Mr Sun bleeds Cardinal Red too.
