Nash files for divorce, wife surprised

Steve Nash, the face of the Phoenix Suns, has filed for divorce from his wife, Alejandra, and is asking the court to uphold a premarital agreement that calls for him to not provide permanent spousal support.

Nash, who has made more than $100 million during his NBA career, filed divorce papers Dec. 15 in Maricopa County Superior Court.

Nash publicly announced Nov. 13 that he was divorcing his wife. It was the day after she gave birth to the couple's third child, a son. The couple was together about nine years, and was married June 11, 2005. They also have twin daughters who are 6.

In the divorce filing, Nash said their marriage is "irretrievably broken" with "no reasonable prospect of reconciliation."

In a statement issued Tuesday, Alejandra said she was surprised by her husband's decision.

"I still do not quite understand what interests possessed Steve to do such a thing at this moment, as he told me of his desire to divorce the day before the birth of our son," she said. "I thought I knew Steve better. But no matter how trying and disappointing the situation, Steve is the father of our family. I hope whatever the future holds this process will do right by all of them."

I just noticed they were married on by bday.

I recall MJ's wife rapped him on their divorce, winning like $170 million.

uh oh.... read between the lines folks..... this can only mean,

Nash is gay.

not that there is anything wrong with that.

I don't know how reliable this information is, but I heard from a couple people through the grapevine that the marriage had been strained for a while. I'm not exactly sure what her motivation would be to lie about the scenario, but I seriously doubt that it just came out of no where.

I thought I heard some speculation about his wife cheating on him? Given the fact she has been preggers the last nine months makes me question the legitimacy of those claims, but maybe he aint da baby daddy?

My dad was friends with a cop back in the day who said that he was called to a domestic dispute that turned out to be Thunder Dan and his lover.

The kid obviously doesn't look like Nash even remotely close. To break up on the kids birth says something to me.

He just doesn't have the fashion sense. The boy dresses in the dark. Now Plunder Dan... hmmm... he's sure is dapper

Her statement isn't necc. any kind of true - her lawyer may have written it for her. we don't know any of it, right?
My guess is he busted her eating red meat and fried potatoes ....

When Nash signed with Phoenix, rumor has it he didn't even own a pair of dress shoes to bring to the press conference. He's not gay, he's just sort of a hippie :lol:

Anyway, divorce is extremely upsetting, and a depressing time in one's life; regardless of who initiated the process. I wish he and his family the best.
