Who cares if other teams want him, we NEED him more than... ALL OF THEM.

Im just excited that we have a player that other teams want, yet our FO has shut them down. How many trade ideas have you seen from me that included Gortat coming to the Suns? I have always thought that he would be a great fit.

True but to be fair you had so many trade ideas that it involved almost all players of this league coming to the Suns

I know, but a very very large majority had us getting Gortat.

Only one. But that idea was part of over 200 posts of yours, which to this day I still don't like.

I was coming here to post that you guys got shafted on this trade, but this reminded me you also get Maxamillion on the deal. Grats, having that guy follow your team is awesome.

Saw this on another board, made me laugh.

Gortat and Prietus are good backups, nothing more. The trade comes down to VC for Jrich and four players that won't have much impact for either team (although Turks might do well back in blue). Maxamillion might be able to make anyone look like an all star, but that doesn't make VC anywhere near Jrich.

Re: *MERGED* Done Deal. Goodbye Jrich/Hedo/Clark
^ We weren't going to be keeping JRich anyway, so it's a moot point basically
Carter's a better ball handler and is more clutch. I liked JRich here, but reality is Carter's a guy you can give the ball at the end of a game and he'll create his own shot, JRich wasn't that guy (apart from that one in OKL last yr)
I think Gortat's clearly starter material once he gets a chance, and Pietrus for all of his shortcomings could start on a dozen teams because of his shooting/athleticism/defensive abilities

The two central pieces to this trade were Gortat and Hedo. There should be little doubt about it. The others were how they balanced the trade.

Re: *MERGED* Done Deal. Goodbye Jrich/Hedo/Clark
Well put - we got a starting caliber center, a still-deadly scorer with a huge expiring deal and a three-point shooting wing known for defense, which we need. We gave up a high-scoring SG we couldn't afford to keep past this season, a reserve wing who never saw the court and a wing with an onerous contract we probably shouldn't have brought here in the first place.
We also got a first round pick and a bag of money, and we increased our cap space for next year.
FO did a good job, no way around it

No, the reason ORL traded Carter is because he WASN'T that guy.

Anymore that is. I am sure he was that guy a few years ago.

I'm definately inclined to agree with TASTIC on this one. I think Carter will do well in PHX. He hasn't played with a distributing PG since Kidd and those were his best years. Flanking Nelson isn't going to help your value. I think Nash will inflate it once more.
I mean, Hell, look at how EFFICIENT he made Richardson. A guy who, by all acounts, had been a streaky chucker came in here and was shooting at incredible %'s. His FG% increased about 30 bps and his TS% increased by about 50-70 bps.
That's insane for a SG. Insane. It essentially means that he goes from a .500 TS% to a .575 TS% by coming to PHX.
Carter will definately get to drink some of that juice.
