"The Blue Jays never had a shot at Greinke; they, too, were on his no-trade list, and the pitcher was not interested in playing for Toronto," he added.

Jays never had chance at Greinke
We need to get a list of players who have us on their no-trade list.

Re: Jays never had chance at Greinke
I actually think you're gonna find the no-trade list get used in reverse soon. Hearing that King Felix put the top 10 markets on his to increase his leverage for a deal in any possible trade makes me think there will be quite a few big names doing that in the future. Of course that's irrelevant to this, but I digress.
I was all for trading for Greinke at the right place, as long as he was happy coming, which it appears he wouldn't have been. So many questions marks about what motivates this guy to me. That's not a knock on him, because I honestly don't know the answer, but I know with his history and some of the talk about the east coast, I'm perfectly content to let him be the fish that got away, even if he was never even near our boat to begin with.

Media told us Otis Smith was glad to see Hedo gone last season, now he trades back for him. Who knows what's true. Are we actually on Greinke's no-trade list??? If our media asked his agent, would he be inclined to tell?

Whether we were or werent on his no-trade list, it doesnt matter. He's gone now to Milwaukee and I think thats how he wants it. I doubt this guys ability to play in an actual competitive market/division. He seems to be the type that prefers being more low-key and apparantly Milwaukee was this place. I think his no-trade list of teams was based on the market and size as opposed to the more common "that team sucks" type of list.

he has social anxiety disorder & hence his desire not to play in New York.
He's a pretty funny guy however - was reading some of his quotes on the Brewers board...

Re: Jays never had chance at Greinke
It would be logical that a young pitcher looking for a big payday in the near future would want to avoid pitching in the AL East. We can't know every "no trade to" clause out there, but for that reason alone the Jays would have to figure prominently.
So the current organization philosophy of drafting pitchers, pitchers and more pitchers makes even more sense. Once the core of the rotation is established, then AA can vastly overpay a Lee-esque (or at least a Dave Stewart-esque) veteran innings-eater to put us over the top.

Young pitchers could look at it as auditioning for the Yankees 18 times a year loltecumseh18 wrote:It would be logical that a young pitcher looking for a big payday in the near future would want to avoid pitching in the AL East. Nor surprise really. In the NL, he can boost his stats in a mediocre division. From a $ point of view, smart move by Greinke to avoid Toronto.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.
