Question for anyone? If the Rockets trade Yao(17mil) for another player who only makes 15mil , is it possible for that team to just throw in 2 mil cash ? I noticed the Magic/Suns trade involved the Magic sending the Suns 3mil in cash in addition to the players mentioned. So what is the limit on how much cash can be part of a deal?

For the record, I would accept him back in a limited capacity on a much smaller contract. He could conceivably fill a bill walton type of role.

No, it wouldn't; but the chances of Les actually allowing a Yao trade are about zero.

I feel sorry for both him and you guys. I honestly do.
As much as I feel he doesn't deserve an all-star vote simply because he can't play 2/3 of a season to save his life, I do like him as a person. All you see is the word class from top to bottom in Yao. Perhaps his humble roots made him a humble man.
And you fans having the need to suffer through watching your franchise player getting injured year after year, can't imagine that. It seems like only the Suns medical staff can save him, given they have resurrected Grant Hill from glass knees to well, this.

Wish him a long and prosperous 2nd half of his career, if he decides against retiring. I do see an extension offer from the Rockets though, since they won't just give up on the Chinese market like that.
