Rent Melo?

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Wed Dec 22, 2010 4:37 pm

It looks like the Dallas Mavericks are trying to rent Carmelo Anthony for one year since he doesnt want to sign want anyone in the off season but the Knicks. The Jazz could likely rent Melo for one year in exchange for AK-47 and Hayward. Nuggets love AK-47 and it gets them a young talent in Hayward while still keeping them as a playoff team. The Jazz get a superstar to go along with Dwill to try and win it all. Lets say the Jazz win it all this year, maybe Melo decides to stay. One championship is better than 10 years of playoffs and out. I would seriously consider this option but not truely sure I would do it. Your thoughts?

I would rather the Jazz not win a championship if they had to do it with Carmelo's help. Besides the Jazz have never built a team thinking short term.

I am not sure adding Melo to this team even gets us to the next level. I also think it would be hard to incorporate his skills into our team concept during the remaining part of the season.

When have did the Nuggets start loving AK?

He could push us into the top echelon of teams but I rather not waste my time with him. No thanks.

Mavs are seriously considering getting him? WTF are they thinking? Why mess up the best chemistry they have had for years? Cuban is definitely off his rocker on this one. I really really hope they do it.

No idea what they're thinking. I'd love to see them get Melo.

The trade before the season started was Melo was going to Nets had AK-47 going to the Nuggets who has an expiring contract and where there were reports about Karl loved AK-47's game. So do they do this trade for AK-47 and Hayward maybe not, they mgiht require the Jazz take on Haringtons bad contract and the Jazz throwing in a couple of 1st round picks as well. So it would take alot but a deal could get done if the Jazz want to gamble on the season.

Teams like the Heat, Mavericks, and even the Mil Bucks have made these types of gambles in the past 2 seasons to win a chamionship now instead of later. The Magic had a title contender already but they werent satisfied with that and made a huge trade to win it all. The Lakers were basically the only team to take on a huge gamble in a large contract of a perceived soft player in Paul Gasol.

The Jazz must decide if they truly want to gamble their future for a legitimate shot to win it all. It is a tough decision but I might do it. At the very least, the Jazz improve dramatically as a team and make the team the talk of the league. The Jazz in essence become relevant to championship talk!

I honestly don't see how it could hurt.

If it doesn't work out, he leaves, and AK comes back at a cheaper price the next season.

There's no way the Nuggets trade Melo to the Jazz for AK + garbage when the Nets are offering Favors + multiple first round picks.

Nets offer is contingent on Melo signing a long term deal with the Nets which he has decided he will not do. He apparently wants to go to the Knicks period. The Jazz would be acquiring him as a rent a player. Nets would not do so and only make a trade if he signs long term deal which he will not do.

Aint going to happen, but if we could trade AK and get Carmelo in return, I'd do it in a heartbeat...

Jefferson
Millsap
Melo
Bell
WIlliams

I would hope we keep Miles, but if we had to let him go, the hell with it. LA hasn't looked too scary this season, and we have the guys to atleast bother Gasol and Kobe, and Melo would give them head aches, and pretty much any other team.

Ofcourse it would never happen, but if Melo were open to it, and Denver were stupid enough.. I'd go nuts.

WOW hahaha. The Gasol trade was a gamble??? Since when? They didn't give up hardly anything to get him....and I do believe he was an all-star caliber player when they traded for him...I wouldn't call that a gamble by any means.

I'm sorry but getting Melo for half a season is not worth it in any world.

If Dallas is seriously considering making a run at him...just flat out stupid. They are built to win it all as they are right now. Doesn't make any sense for them to mess with things. I hope they do it so they can implode.

For a multitude of reasons, this will not happen. No need to speculate as far as I'm concerned.
