When he got drafted one of the black guys i played ball with accused me of making a big deal about him just because he was white, as if the Bullets had so much else going on at that time.

Although I was wuite young at the time, I remember my older brother and his freinds wanting Walt Williams (who went a pick later). Googs was clearly the right call.

I played some pickup games with Walt when he was a freshman at Md. He was really skinny and was playing against us. I had two guys on the varsity playing on my team and they were giving him what i guess was typical freshman abuse. They roughed him up pretty bad but he never got pissed.
