Salaam u Alaikum Sherron and thanks. I can sympathize with what he's going through on the Friday prayers - with work it's incredibly difficult to make them esp. since the mosque I go to is so far away from here.

salaam! it's tough. this is america, we work at noon on fridays. it's hard to leave your job to go pray. i try to make it every friday but it's tough.

hahaha it was an odd conversation. we were just talking about the weather and he goes, "yeah i don't wear a coat. i challenge the cold head on. if i'm going to the store or out somewhere, i don't wear a coat."

he's a brave man.

i am! i ran into him at the masjid over a month ago. he's freakishly tall so he stands out. i had just interviewed him a few weeks before. he did not remember me. he was polite at the time. he was with a bunch of little guys. i know everyone is little next to him but they all looked like they were 5 feet tall. young guys.

i think turkey is predominantly a muslim country. turkoglu is muslim as well.

Thats one of the many reasons I love the league, its a universally sound organization. Omer could undoubtedly get the bulls to accomodate him on and between Friday workouts. He should never have to miss his friday prayers as I know Jumah is extremely important to Muslims indeed...

In any case..

Dude your footage is awesome!! One guy had the iphone directly in little brother's throat!!! lol..

Even still, i wonder what recording app that reporter was using. Iprorecorder for the iphone can record a seminar while its in your pocket!!!
You know how Zach Efron fired Adam Davies then hired by Ari Gold, and finally asked for something with leather and 4 wheels?

It's time for Derrick Rose to do the same! - LOL Max Only!

Sounds like JJ is on his way out sometime in next 2 months... when you don't play, all that's left is your enthusiasm and hope. When that's gone, it's time to move on.

man, i can't do that. you don't want to bother the guy at jumah though. i said hello to him and he barely replied. he's not a talker.

Yeah I was gonna mention Khalid El-Amin. Cant get a more muslim sounding name than that. I don't know why but I didn't realize that Turkey is that much muslim. I thought it was a very diverse country. Are there are lot of different sects that reside in Turkey or is that dominated by one as well?

Great Story as usual Sherron!

I think it would be really interesting to read a story on prayer habits, etc. of Muslim NBA players. Even though I am not myself, that sort of thing fascinates me.

I assumed Omer was a Muslim since he was raised in Turkey. Being raised their does not guarantee one is a Muslim, but there is a good chance of it.

On the other hand, I have a girlfriend born & raised in Indonesia (Sumatra to be exact). She's not Muslim although Indonesian has more Muslims than any other country on Earth.

not sure

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkey#Religion

Though there are no exact figures on religious sects, according to a 2006 survey, 82% were identified as Sunni Hanafi, 9.1% Sunni Shafi'i, and 5.7% were Alevi.
