Re: Official Trade Thread XV
I know Dallas is only renting Melo in theory (although I personally believe Melo would end up resigning in Dallas if he was traded to them), but why would that make the price to get Melo any less? Why does it matter to Denver? My understanding is that Melo doesn't have a no trade clause, he only has an indirect no trade clause meaning that if he doesn't want to go to a certain team they won't trade for him because he won't sign an extension with that team. But if Denver liked the package they're getting from Dallas, they'd go ahead and take it. Denver doesn't owe Anthony anything at this point. I can't see why Denver would be okay with getting less in return for Melo just because the team he's going to isn't going to resign him.

I agree with all that. What I'm saying is that the only reason Dallas even has a shot at Melo is because no one else will bother bidding for him because he's a rental. So, yes, had we not made our Haywood/Butler/Stevenson trade, we would be in position to rent Melo too. So what? We wouldn't want him for 3 months.

So, Blatche is playing so poorly we want to trade him again?

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

There is a bit of that going around, though I'd be happier if we got his "big butt into the paint". It's not like we're talking about big trade value here, so even if they ultimately move him, it would behoove us to get him playing better.

Re: Official Trade Thread XV
I've seen a lot of trades posted on the Trades and transactions board that has K-Honey going to Indiana and with the Pacers fans all in with "yeah, he'd only play 18 minutes here as Collison's backup, not as good as Ford or Price anyway - you'd have to include McGee for us to absorb that salary".
Let's just say it: Kirby's better than all them trash guards on that team and it's not even close. OK, Collison's nice if you're a big Mike James fan, I guess.

How could they resist Kirby he is the BWA on the trade market j/k
I think a trade of Tj Ford and Dantay Jones could be good for both teams. TJ Ford is young enough he could earn the back-up PG spot here if his next contract is cheap. Dantay Jones would give the Wizards a perimeter defender.

TJ Ford is a horrendous offensive player, statistically. I don't see us being shoppers in the FA market this summer and suspect that the lockout makes Kirk's moderately overpriced salary next year that much less so.
If someone wants Kirk, they need to offer a decent pick or prospect b/c the dude can play.

Screw that. I don't care what we get for him. It would just be much more fun for me to root for a Blatche-less Wizards team at this point.

How do you reconcile your Blatche hate with your Ernie love, especially given the recent extension?

First of all, that Family Guy clip is hilarious.

Second, I said when the extension was first announced that I thought it was unnecesary. I didn't disagree with it as much as I just didn't see any reason for it to happen because he had multiple years left on his current deal and he couldn't opt-out. (Edit to add: Tacking more money on for no reason actually in a way negates the positive EG had done when he got Blatche to agree to that sweetheart contract a few years ago.)
Blatche also hadn't proven he could play well for an entire season, especially a season where he actually had something to play for (unlike last year). Other EG moves may not have worked out the way we would have hoped, but at least I could see the reasons behind them. I didn't see one for this but I gave Ernie the benefit of the doubt.
Then the regression started. I then said in another thread (maybe the Ernie thread or the Blatche extension thread) that if Blatche continues to regress then the extension will have been a mistake by Ernie. I believe we're at that point and I absolutely stand by my previous posts.
The good thing is that Ernie still has a chance to salvage the sitaution by trading Blatche. If Blatche is still on the team after the trading deadline, that would also be a mistake. I don't care how well Blatche plays between now and then. He will at some point revert back to what we're currently seeing so there is no point in keeping him. Both the extending and keeping of Blatche would combine to be a stain on an otherwise great year by EG. C'mon Ernie, don't let me down!

Re: Official Trade Thread XV
The second half of last year was Blatche at his peak and that is the problem. 20 and 8 or 9 isn't bad and his salary going forward is a bargain, but he just doesn't have the "want" to be anything more than a jumpshooting big, who happens to be in the right place to get a rebound now and then. He doesn't strike fear in the opposing team offensively or defensively. And he has played enough minutes to be well scouted. What we saw against the Bulls (3 for 14, dribbling between the legs 20 feet from the basket) and the Heat (fouling Bosh at the three point line) were scripted by the opposition. Blatche is just plain predictable.

You know, just saying something doesn't make it true. Unless you have a crystal ball, you can't say s*** like that.

Exceptions can be made, but generally only if you're wearing a toga and can say it in a passable James Earl Jones.

Re: Official Trade Thread XV
Had a crazy thought...
Wizards trade: Wall, Blatche, and Booker
Wizards receive: Griffin, Augustin, and Carroll
Clippers trade: Griffin, Davis, and Kaman
Clippers receive: Wall, Blatche, Diaw, and Diop
Bobcats trade: Diaw, Augustin, Carroll, and Diop
Bobcats receive: Davis, Kaman, and Booker
TRADE ID 5783533
Why for Charlotte? They expand on a recent rumor to try to jumpstart their team.
Kaman/Mohammed
Tyrus/Booker
Wallace/DMac
Jackson/Henderson
Davis/Livingston
Why for LAC? They get out of Baron's contract, get Wall for one more year at a rookie scale contract than they would with Griffin, and get a young starting PF.
Jordan/Diop
Blatche/Diaw
Aminu/Gomes
Gordon/Foye
Wall/Bledsoe
Why for Washington? We solve our frontcourt problems for the next 10 years without adding to your cap, while still having competent PG play.
McGee/Armstrong/Seraphin
Griffin/Lewis
Howard/Lewis
Young/Carroll
Hinrich/Augustin
And we still have Yi+Thornton as expirings to make other deals.

Re: Official Trade Thread XV
^ Interesting. Wallace's rebounding would make up for Lewis at PF. And it would be truly ironic that we acquire the guy who crashed into Gil's knee.

I have no desire to obtain Wallace. He is injury prone and his game relies on athleticism. I get the feeling that his career is about to decline dramatically.
