should i be scared guys?
^ old news. Nets have been working to get a deal for a while now.. I suppose it's news worthy if there's anything to report on Melo warming up to the idea of going if they get any players of skill to go with him... but I don't see that happening...Between the Nets trying to publicize anything they can about being on the 'hot pursuit of Melo' [even Avery supposedly telling his players about a possible trade coming....yeah okay..], and these reporters making up a lot of BS [see: CBS' Berger being called out by Cuban as 'completely making that story up' and there being 'not a grain of truth to it'] - I wouldn't put it passed either.... I actually her Woj. on Mac and BT after the article came out and he wasn't saying much other than what we've heard already and didn't seem very sure about anything.... other than Melo getting traded somewhere before the deadline if he doesn't sign [aka Melo ain't going to be a FA]... BT inquired about how Melo could ever go to NJ given their state [where they play / players he be with / record etc] over the Knicks and Woj. agreed and didn't have a real response other than Melo wanting the deal and the $.... as we saw with James, that ain't always the case.... given things are different with the CBA obviously and all... I think Melo will stick to his guns and know that he will be traded no matter what, and that if he holds out long enough it will be to the Knicks... Denver can ill afford to make the biggest decision they're going to have to make over the next few years for the franchise out of spite .. If Melo declines extending anywhere else they will have no choice..
That all being said, the longer Denver and NJ work together [with other teams] to get some sort of deal, the greater the chance of finding some odd / unexpected team out there that is willing to trade a guy in part of the deal that would also be sent to NJ making Melo a bit more comfortable [from a 'who he'd be playing with in NJ perspective]... They'll prob try and use all those picks in such regard .. but it becomes difficult to balance out what they're using to give to Denver for Melo, and what else they'll have left to give away to make him happy with the roster...theyre pretty thin in that regard...... if it happens it'll be real complicated and involve a bunch of teams obviously somehow bringing Melo and other respectable players to the Nets, other wise Melos a no go......... so i think more than anything, the fact that Melo doesn't like the roster / team as currently constructed is more telling of the story than anything else.. especially considering they don't have a lot of room to change that right now...
Makes you feel like dealing with the Knicks would be a whole lot simpler.... but rest assured, Nets and Nugs will try any and everything before that, and that is the bitch... who knows what **** they could get other teams to buy into if given enough time..... I'm confident if there's something Donnie can do he'll do it wisely... I don't see Melo going to FA though, so our best hope is Denver comes to there sense sooner than later [which probably won't be the case] and is forced to make a deal with us.. in which we don't give up too much and still have room to make other deals before the deadline.... we can't be strangled by this forever.. Donnie needs time to make other moves as well..
