I read the Leafs are about to sign Toskala to an extension, estimated between 3.5-4 mil per season. The cap hit would begin next season, when his current contract runs out.

Kalus is a highly regarded prospect, so don't think he came cheap. I'd still take Toskala over Fernandez.

Me too. I'm probably one of the biggest pessismists when it comes to the Leafs......or maybe the biggest. But for some reason, I have faith in Toskala as the Leafs main guy in net.

As bad as the Leafs defense was last year, I feel Raycroft has to take alot of the blame. In terms of shots faced by Razor, it was less than what Belfour or Cujo faced when they were here, DESPITE playing more games than either of them. And yet his GAA and SV% were still crappier than those two previous Leafs goalies. To me it seemed like everytime the opposition had a chance to score a backbreaking, game changing goal, Raycroft would oblige them.

I have faith that Vesa can make the key saves in games that Raycroft couldn't last year.
