When ever I hear that a coach is safe, I immediately think that he isn't.

Good job Petrie...now get out there and make some trades to get some players who actually have enough respect for the game to play 48 full minutes and can do so without needing their diapers changed at halftime.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

So instead of changing the voice and message of the team with a new coach, we should just go out and make trades to fit our coach....again? You just don't give up, do you?
At least I have the luxury of being right.

You are ALSO in the luxury of being too stubborn to realize that things need to change, and it's a much better idea to changes coaches than to sell our players when their stock are at an all time low.

I rarely disagree with you so much but PW has his fair share of vets & if you cant coach vets then your the problem He has at least 6 GUYS who has been in the NBA AT LEAST 3 YEARS OR MORE additionally PW should be appointing a leader of the team if nobody steps up to take it themselves !
PW sucks ! You are thinking he could coach YES when he coached a team deeply full of vets playing a ton of years & together inherited mind you its easy to look good having BARKLEY , K.J. , MARJLE , HORNACEK , CHAMBERS just to name a few . PLEASE WESTPAUL cannot coach a young team he is a terrible fit .
Just because he is the coach who coached an already given to him great team to an NBA finals does not immediatly qualify him as a great coach !
If you honestly think we are going to trade for alot of veterans SIR your going to be sadly dissapointed & If you think PW will coach past the end of next season his end to his contract again your sadly mistaken .
PW inherited a better team & group of guys than what both MUSS & THEUS had & as hard as it is he is doing a worse job than both did !

According to history, this isn't good for Westphal. When Petrie says something like this, he is going to get canned soon (or in the future: offseason).

Re: Petrie : Westphal's Job is Safe
I'm more or less with KIE. I'm all for riding this ship out this year and next year as bill murray as our coach. Although I can understand how it seems like a good idea to bring in someone else at the current stage, but I think long term its better to let the coach make his mark and run this team and give him time. If there is no improvements after next year then ok bring in someone else. I said before and I'll say it again a lot of the blame is on Petrie. Petrie brought in vets like Landry and Dalembert so whats PW suppose to do, not use them. Then when he does he is criticized for not giving an immature 19/20 year old 35 minutes a game. PW has made some bad decisions but he was put in a bad situation too. And so what if we have more talent than power point and theus, its about messing the team more so than the overall talent. I would of thought PW would of figured things out a little better at this point but I;m still willing to give him more time and Petrie needs to make some changes immediately with this roster and the Maloofs need to stay outta the way.

Hahaha. Hey, honestly with the right players Westphal might do a decent job. Historically speaking that's just about all he's going to do, but hey, what the hell!

So you honestly think that this team is chalk full of players that don't have respect for the game? Wow. I would have to say that the odds of that being the case are not on your side.

Ride the ship out this year AND next year with PW??? I don't even know what to say to that.... I guess you want to wait and see if he can break another franchise all-time worst start, eh?
P.S. WESTFAIL signed off on the Landry AND Sammy D trades, he WANTED these players here! So if you are criticizing Petrie for the trades, you might as well include PW.

You might be but I'm not so sure the other fans still "hanging in there" are going to follow suit. This isn't just about bad attitudes, there's a freaking reason there are bad attitudes! This team isn't even worth half the price on the lower bowl seats to watch and the progression has turned into utter regression on all fronts.
He has used his vets! What did it get him so far? It's those 19 and 20 year olds that are going to be the ones to take this team somewhere, but it's going to take time. I don't think ANYONE has a problem with that. It's just rather obvious to most that the path they are being led on doesn't look like the right one and the players have spouted off about it at one time or another (belief is that's why Cousins got kicked out of practice).
Heck, this whole ordeal might lead to a few wins just because these guys are pissed, but if the sets and/or the identity of this team isn't changed and fast (Westphals job BTW!) not only will this team be stuck on the bottom, it will never have a legitimate chance to rise and the players themselves will not have a chance to develop in the proper way.
Theus actually would have been able to handle this situation better IMO. So far I see a Westphal that has a problem with "problem" players. Payton back in the day. Hawes last year. Cousins now. There's one common denominator in all of this.
We need this time to develop these young players. The more time now, the less time later. You can't honestly say that Cousins has made huge strides since getting these minutes can you? The fouls are slowly disappearing. The moves are coming. The confidence is building, and maybe overflowing at times. I agree with the team letting Cousins know childish antics like that are intolerable, but to make an example like he did today was over the line for what occured. It's almost like last year when Hawes got benched when he basically just repeated what Evans said himself.
We have more talent than those teams led by Musselman and Theus but those were veteran teams for the most part. Veteran teams win, it's not about the losing, it's about a coach clearly at odds with his players and an entire team full of players that are regressing game after game. If Petrie is fogged to the point that he can't see it, well, then we've got much bigger problems on our hands.

I think our chemistry is even worse than it was with Muss or Theus...I don't remember things being this bad with either of them...and things got REALLY bad at one point with Theus before he was fired.

Re: Petrie : Westphal's Job is Safe
Oh it's bad, very bad. Theus and Musselman got canned because they were under performing with teams expected to at least make some noise. This is just a cluster F because nobody even expected this team to win. Problem's there, quite obvious to just about anyone within eye or earshot, but, "Here We Decline" as bdgking said. hahahaha. Hey, but Westphals a "nice guy". That's just how business works and you know where nice guys finish. It all makes sense if you think about it.
I'm not even pissed at Westphal anymore, this is in indeed in the hands of Petrie and the Maloofs. Either get something your coach can work with, or pick the right coach that will help develop these young guys in something other than ballhog 101 and musical chairs.

I agree with everything you said 100% the only exception is in reguards to PETRIE however I dont know nor does anyone know this for sure but PETRIE'S hands very easily might be tide because though it's very possible he wants PW fired he might not be allowed to do so if the MALOOFS tell him they wont pay for another coach when he has another year remaining under contract.
I put blame on PW & THE MALOOFS however if I knew for a fact that PETRIE is deciding to keep PW & THE MALOOFS were willing to get another coach know etc. I would be blamming PW & PETRIE !
HERE WE DECLINE is sucking bigtime !

Musselman got fired because he was god awful, and the players had quit. Theus got fired because he wasn't Petrie's guy. Big mistake in MHO. Natt got fired because he was Natt. The problem today seems like more of a bad mix of players than bad coaching. It's up to Petrie to fix that. At least put a bandaid on it until next season.

The other 9 ton elephant in the room is that a coaching change now would be the 5th coach in 5 years...and when a permanent coach gets hired next summer, they would be the 6th. That kind of revolving door does nothing but send a message in 500 ft tall letters that the team management has no trust in their coaches, are unwilling to back the coaches and tells the players that they can do whatever and be immune to consequences. With that kind of message you would be lucky to get ANY coach to want to consider the job. And the ones who do will be the worst coaches in the league...and they're going to demand a butt load of money to take the job. For good or bad, it's time for the Maloofs to put their money on one coach and stick with them for more than a season and a quarter.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.
