And LoJax and Phonso and Houston and Sims. None of them count either.

He was cut from TEN because he couldn't pass protect and because he didn't offer anything they didn't already have. He had a lot of trouble with that during Senior Bowl week too, plus he has the personal baggage of being a thuggish malcontent. He wound up on Tampa only because they owed his agent (his new agent, his old one dropped him) a favor. To Blount's credit he seized the opportunity, though his pass protection is still awful. Not sure I want Matt Stafford (or any QBs) well-being on his shoulders.
What about Mo Morris having a great day? Does that count for nothing? He's a guy that Mayhew scraped up for next to nothing and has been a very nice piece. Bobby Carpenter, same thing, and he had a strong game. I guess that doesn't count
Well we aren't making the playoffs with Morris, so I would have rather traded Morris or taken something else in place of him. And Carpenter was just another formality of a player with potential that we were in position to scoop up and as always we should scoop up as many of those types of guys as we can. I don't need to pat Mayhew on the back for every single transaction to acknowledge the good ones, i'm just focusing on everything that he comes up short on because I'm aiming for a higher standard and result. Mayhew hasn't exactly missed a ton of stuff but every bit counts and well a fresh start next year with another round of new players will give him a good chance for redemption in 2011. He has to have a pretty good feel for understanding our needs at this point so he should have a great chance at producing a productive offseason.
