I use to like Brewer... Last year when his shot appeared fixed. He's regressed imo.

He's certainly a better option than ellington.

Lol, yeah, that is a particularly damning stat.

Look, I'm a Brewer supporter. But I don't think he should start. The thing he is best for is energy off the bench. His D is pretty good (and FWIW, I don't think his gambles hurt more than they help; that is precisely the kind of thing that should show up in +/-), but that's not the end of the story. We need scoring at the beginning of games. The one thing that this team is doing well is starting off strong. Wes has the capacity to be absolutely cold-blooded outside the arc. Brewer sometimes makes a layup. No way is he the offensive threat that Wes is.

Having Martell start would be interesting, but I think that it's probably much harder for a rookie to come off the bench than a vet like Martell. All in all, it's like K-Love said in his interview, you have to play to get better. Right now we're feeling that a bit with Wes, but it's pretty much the price of admission.

Also, wait a minute. We're having trouble closing out games, not starting them. In fact, we frequently start games out great! So why, I mean why, fuss with who is in the starting lineup??

You raise alot of valid points eyeteeth. However, I dont see any problem with bringing Rookies off the bench, sometimes its needed. Yes Wes has the ability to be cold-blooded, but he doesnt seem to carry that attitude throughout the entire game. Its in spurts, usually the 1st quarter. Maybe thats a coaching issue?

I also agree that Webster starting would be interesting, as he brings both offense (better than Brewer) and decenet defense (better than Wes) to the table. But then does our bench fire power suffer?

And yes, the Wolves have lost 17 games I think when holding a double digit lead?? So it is obviosuly a 4th quarter issue - not being able to hold off other teams and closing games out. In which case, the best defensive players available should be on the court, which you think would be Ridnour, Brewer, Webster, Beasley and/or Love/Darko.

Whats costing us games at the end of games is people making bone-headed plays, and Brewer simply makes too many bone-headed plays to be out there then. Either it is gambling on a steal and whiffing on defense, or pretty much half the time he touches the ball on offense.

What we need is to make the smart decision, the simple play and play within ourselves. I dont have faith that Brewer can do that

I appreciate Brewer, I really do but Webster deserves to start and to be getting close to 30 minutes a night. Brewer is high energy and some nights he is a big plus but overall I consider his play to be a negative. He's wreck-less and a poor shooter and an average defender at best. The only way I want Brewer getting more than 15 minutes is to either showcase him for a trade or if someone gets hurt or in foul trouble.

Is it possible that Brewer is a plus defender against bench players but a negative against starters? Not sure how that could be proven with numbers but he always seems to do well late in the quarters, when the starters are resting, while he struggles late in the game when he's matched with the starters.

Klomp makes a valid point. What we are forgetting in this Brewer v. Wes debate is that the use of "PieHole" was a funny dig and should be regarded as such.
