The guy has been a revelation this season. Who knew we'd pick up such a solid contributor from our summer league. The guy has been lights out from 3 pt range and showed solid defense. Not to mention his flashes of athleticism has made it harder for opponents to cover him on the perimeter as he can slash and finish at a high percentage.
Props to Gary, I hope he continues to produce for us well into the playoffs.
I'm gonna say his play and Splitters play will determine our chances once the playoffs come around, if both can put up big minutes we have every chance to go all the way.

Re: Gary Neal
He's been a really pleasant suprise so far this year. He's just a great all around scorer and he can hold his own on the defensive end as well.
Just imagine how much better our bench is going to be when Anderson gets back?

Re: Gary Neal
this guy needs touches to get going, i hate it when they go away from him after clankin a couple early shots to get going, he aint afraid to pull the trigger but when ur free pull it, dont fake and try to penetrate thats his weakness, tryin to do more then u can.
tonight against the magic he didnt get going until he was playin with the bench for most of the 2nd half...i still think he needs to improve on his defense
if him and anderson, hill improve on the defense and able to guard the long 3s of the league, then half of our problem is sovled, just need another big down low...im willing to sacrifice bonner in a trade lol

Re: Gary Neal
Problem is, I think we have to choose between James Anderson and Gary Neal. Right now, we look good when Neal and Hill is on the floor because they also have Tony or Manu on the floor with them. Add the fact that George Hill should get 25-30 minutes and that means the leftover minutes should be focused on one person. a 5 man rotation at PG/SG/SF is enough. Rotations need to be shorten once we get closer to the playoffs. You don't play 12 guys. Not even 10. The Spurs usually play 9, with the 9th guy getting very limited minutes (8-10 minutes a game).
Anyways, what I'm saying is that I think the Spurs have to eventually shorten the rotation and choose to play Neal or Anderson. One of them will be playing very limited minutes and even sometimes don't play at all.
I think James Anderson is a better fit because we can use his size, but I really doubt Anderson can play as confident as Neal does right now and the time he's missed the past month set him back. Anderson IMO (like Splitter) will have a bigger role next year. Not this year.
