Vince is the same age as Pierce and 1 yr older than Kobe!

Post#1 » by JMac1 » Sat Dec 25, 2010 6:09 am

I don't understand why some people act as if Vince is 38. First off he is still 33, he doesn't turn 34 until next month. I thought he was going on 35. Vince was born in '77, Pierce '77 and Kobe '78, if those two are still capable so is Vince.

Like some people said, Vince wasn't the go to guy in Orlando. See what happened when JRich became the man. When JRich didn't score 20 plus it was because of JRich, no one else. With Stat and Shaq here he was limited. I think Vince and Nash could make it happen, hell look at Grant this year without Amare...

I am really excited, I think VC is going to surprise people on the offense and defense of end.

Yeah agreed, also I know alot of people are saying he's not comming back next year but if he fits with this team, why not buy him out and try to re-sign him to a long term reasonable contract?

Why need pick up his team option for next year and around February of 2012 we can trade Vince Carter to a team that appears to be struggling and is wanting to move huge contracts.

Got to see how he plays with extended minutes in a faster pace offense. If he does well, we better keep him. He brings something offensively we definitely need.
Steve Nash is the point guard jason kidd wishes he was.

Kobe and Pierce didn't rely too much on athleticism as Vince did though.

Sign me up for that crew, Kerrsed! ;)

People use Vince's age as a negativity because people think he only relies on his athletism, but that is far from the truth!

Vince at the age of 31/32 was averaging 20, 5, and 5 in his last year in NJ. He was then averaging 18,4,4, in limited minutes after the all-star break in Orlando.

The man has alot left in the tank. The reason you see Vince's ppg is so low this season is because of the system he was playing in. With the Magic, only Dwight and Jameer where given free reigns on the team, and everyone else was simply a role player.

Vince was averaging 15/4/3 on 47% FG on only 12 possesions in 30 minutes.

See his role increase with the Suns, and you'll be getting a very productive VC, whose age has slown down his hops a bit, but he still has alot left in his game.

Vince stopped relying on athleticism is about 2002. If you think he even remotely relies on athleticism now, you don't watch him play. He's a sound fundamental player shooting a career high 47% without the athleticism.

Do you (does anyone?) think we pay him his full amount next year if the dude goes crazy for the rest of the season?

Is he guaranteed 4mil only if we release him? Otherwise would we have to pick him up for the full amount to keep him next year (contract negotiations notwithstanding)? How does all this work?

if our training staff can make his knee work again i think we will have a good chance of buying him out and try to resign him for a lesser contract. it´s about who is available and who could replace vince..

I watched every game Vince played. I think he started to slow down dunking when he was hacked so hard by Shaq one time when he goes for a dunk. also knee injuries in raptors years.

Vince no longer has the explosive speed that he use to blow by people for dunk.
The speed is gone, explosive leap is gone, but he still can jump, and can get into the lane.
His shooting is great and drasticaly improved.
He got insane 3pt range and a great play maker.
He likes to do pick and roll with a power forward.

VC is not a dependable player and he has never been a good leader. I am really not a fan. I hope the suns use his contract as an expiring for someone who has heart.

Rod Thorn after VC got traded to Orlando:
"Vince, from the time he's been here, not only a great player but i think even a better guy. There were controversies surrounding him in Toronto but since he's been with us, he's been absolutely great. I can't say enough good things about him, i can't say enough of his leadership, the past year and the type player he is, i think everybody is gonna see now how good Vince Carter really is and i think he's gonna have a great year with Orlando and i think he's gonna be terrific."

If we can get him to play at 70% of this level from last year (I don't know how to embed), http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09rFYq_5 ... re=related :D

My expectation for Vince are low. If he delivers 70% of JRich's production I'll be thrilled. A good guy, but, he's been headed towards "average" for awhile and got a bad feeling he's going to look very average in this Suns situation. Fingers crossed that I'll be wrong.

I was hoping he'd opt for the scope...get his knee right, keep the Suns wing clusterf**k from being even more clstrfckd and then perhaps put together some good outings before he and Pietrus can maybe be flipped/packaged after Feb 18.
