Former Laker Toney Gaffney says Melo to the Lakers

Not sure how he'd have the scoop, but former Laker (and Celtic) Tony Gaffney is claiming on his [url]facebook[/url]http://www.facebook.com/tgaffney23 that Carmelo Anthony wants to go to the Lakers and that the rumored deal would revolve around Lamar Odom and picks. Gaffney who is currently playing in Turkey is saying that he has "plenty" of sources for what it's worth.

Surprise!! CP3 was coming to LA too, along with Dwight in a couple years. Melo to LA has a shot but until some more concrete rumors outside of Tony Gaffney, I am not biting. He has wanted big market so its no surprise it would eventually lead to Laker rumors. Bynum is the only legit trade piece. Odom doesnt help their development at all and LA has no legit first rounders to offer...not to mention 2011 is already gone. It would likely have to be multi-team and unless LA is getting a Joe Smith in the deal, not sure many other teams would participate unless they are improving w/o question...and if Melo is leaving Den for LA and Bynum ends up in Den, not many other pieces to get others to bite.

Honestly I wouldn't even want to give up Lamar for Anthony. As good as Anthony is, I don't want lamar and his versatility to leave our team, can't really see Carmelo handle to many minutes at the 4 anyways.

I haven't heard any reports anywhere of Melo going to LA, didnt he tell his agent he only wanted to go to a NY team? (Nets or Knicks) I could sort of see Melo playing SF for LA with Kobe at the SG spot but im not convinced that would work out either way.

versatility or not dude odom and change for melo in an INSTANT. this rumor makes a little sense at least. his wife lala vasquez or something wants to live in a big market area. melo would be awesome. like in the immediate present time.. ooh whos our back up 4. i dont care! its MELO! are u serious?
