If Wall gets back in 2 weeks, do we really need to trade for a PG? I'd rather we just unload Thornton for a big body that can defend the paint, young or old.

Good point, 507Mack.

Wizards could just keep and pay Lester until contracts have to be guaranteed or when Wall returns.

Thornton and Yi could either one go for a round two pick.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Except that we've already got two rookie bigs on the bench, so if we trade Thornton for Telfair or another expiring guard, it means that Lewis will play big minutes at the three which opens up front court development minutes.

The way we've been playing since the trade, I still think that we can slide into that 7th or 8th spot- we're only 4.5 games out. I think we're playing better bc we have better balance all around, and Josh Howard is playing the 3 as it should be played.
The one thing still lacking is that savvy veteran post player that can come in and play some D and do some crafty things on offense. Blatche has been playing some better D, yet Flip still needs to find a way to stop him from taking 17 footers and get him closer touches in the paint. If Blatche still won't do this bc he is busy banging prostitutes, then we need a Leon Powe, Corliss Williamson type to come in and do it. Is there anyone out there that is like this and can be available for AT?
I like the younger guys coming in and playing some spot minutes, but just throwing them into a situation where they are constantly losing just for the sake of give them playing time and tanking the season makes no sense to me.

Serendipity?

MIN signed the NBA's other AT, Anthony Tolliver, and he's been great for us. He's out right now, but he's been a very pleasant surprise. $2 mil/yr, two year deal. Most Wolves fans won't want to deal, but he shouldn't stop a package.

My position would be that we're talking about 8th and 9th men here if we're finding minutes for both Booker and Seraphin, so it's not exactly a dearly bought sacrifice in competitiveness to go with them. Thornton (or any expiring) isn't going to fetch a big that would make a difference anyway, unless it's a guy on a multi-year deal that someone wants to dump - even then we're probably not finagling much more impact than what Ryan Gomes or Jason Maxiel can muster.

I'd also suggest that the Brothers Beef might just need a month or two to get up to snuff to where they're better than whoever we were hypothetically going to bring in otherwise, so I don't see there as being much to lose even in the short term.
