Microfib I misread your Kobe comment.

I took it as Kobe being one of the worst basketball players on the court in todays game.

My Bad.

I guess it's too many of these idiotic Kobe Hate threads and posts I've been reading in the GB and other team forums.
I started to think everyone was saying a bunch of nonsense trash about KB.
Once Again My Apologies.

I agree with everything in your post.

OT Rant: (Amare's 6 blocks, child please) It just annoys me that the gifted athletes only start playing D when they are in a situation that they love (team, coach, $). e.g. Once they got KG and Ray came to the C's Pierce, Allen started to bust a nut on D, and, Amare to the NYK, all once horrible 'Ole defenders, now all the sudden play in the deep end.

come on fellas we have all been here before. how many times have we been doubted? we have proven we are capable to get it right when it matters most. until we are unable to do that,i really wouldn't worry.

I feel that magic1, but the only thing we can hang our hat for the moment is that we STILL haven't had our real starting 5 yet. We can't get a real feel for where we stand until Drew gets back in the line up and producing.

I'm gonna stay real here, and right now we have some issues in a lot areas right now. I'm not liking our interior defense at all, teams get in the paint way too easy without the slightest challenge from a big.

assuming bynum is starting and fully healthy again while lamar goes back to his 6th man role, we have no more excuses. areas of concern right now...

-poor rotations defensively
-we're allowing too much dribble penetration which in turn leads to breakdowns
-offensively, pau still has to toughen up
-bench has to be more consistent

now i wouldn't normally be too concerned over just one game, but our play this season up til now is not up to standards, and while you do have to pace yourself in the regular season, you cant do so at the expense of developing bad habits and forfeiting HCA to other legit contenders.

What does Bynum starting and not starting have to do with this? I wasn't aware the game is determined by the first quarter. The fact is our defense is always going to have plenty of weaknesses to exploit because we don't have anyone who can bring a defensive mindset to this team, and the only way this team is going to win is by playing average defense and great offense. This is how the team has always operated since ever. The problem is the offense is getting easier to shut down because we rely too much on the Kobe/Pau PnR, Kobe is up there in age and Pau is getting more defensive attention than ever. We need to run the triangle more so we have other options, at this point Kobe and Pau is not enough to carry us offensively. Our defense has never shown signs that it will ever be consistent, so I don't have any hope that starting Bynum would change anything on that end.

what i saw today, was a good defensive performance by the wHEAT, a decent d performance by the lakers, a laker team who looked to have no legs offensively, therefore no shot would fall, and most were well short, for everyone, the frenzied d of miami has a bit to do with this...

but what i really saw that made a difference, was two fold....

1) the lakers clearly didnt give a **** about this game, just like the last 5 x-mas games theyve played...

2) the 10 -12 minutes between the 6 minute mark of the first, and the 6 minute mark of the second , i saw a laker team that was plying by a different set of rules than miami...we werent getting calls that miami would get on the very next possession...I did see the refs try to make up for this at the end of the first half, but the damage had been done and for the most part the rest of the game was more or less trading baskets until garbage time mid-way through the fourth...that with lakers not really wanting to actually try to make up the difference...

miami played a very nice game, but ive this laker core beat better...ill give miami their props for this game, they earned it...but the outcome has more to do with how the lakers responded...

end rant.

When's the last time we won a Christmas game? For some reason, I get the feeling Phil holds the guys back a little for Christmas games... They never seem to have the fire I'd expect from them.

The worst part about is that I can't watch sport news for a couple days now.

Actually, beating Spurs is more important... Let's hope the loss taught us something and we come out fired up.

NEW VIDEO: "Burned" Lakers Vs. Heat Recap Mix 12.25.10

Post#196 » by mratm23 » Tue Dec 28, 2010 10:13 pm

Streaming Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnqdVHzvQGo

Description:
December 25, 2010. Millions of people were watching. Millions of people were waiting for a "Lakers and Heat Clash In Thriller" or "Kobe and LeBron Goin' Hard" headline after the game. But what the people of Los Angeles got was "Heat Blowout On Christmas Day". The Lakers were tired and not put together. The Lakers play the Number One Seed in the Western Conference on December 28, 2010. They will have to get back up, and get back to that championship team that beat the Boston Celtics in Game 7 of the Finals. The loss on Christmas Day was hard for the fans of Los Angeles. But we cannot lose hope in our team. Kobe and the Lakers were "Burned"...

While I should probably lock this, I'm just going to merge it with the Heat game thread.
